Cecil Brooks Jr. is a lifelong resident of the South Bronx who is running to become the next Male District Leader for the 84th Assembly District. His career has brought him across the public & private sector for almost 2 decades as he pushes for investments in undeserved communities. During his tenure at the Office of Congressman Ritchie Torres, Cecil's work resulted in $2 million in federal funding for Bronx businesses, 2 reversals for wrongful deportation orders, and dozens of newly registered voters. A child of Garifuna & Caribbean immigrants from Honduras, he would be 1 of the first Central Americans elected to higher office in The Bronx as well as the first Black Male District Leader in his neighborhood.

Courtland Hankins is a Democratic candidate for the New York State Assembly in the 84th District, representing the working-class communities of Hunts Point, Port Morris, Mott Haven, and Concourse in the South Bronx. He currently serves as Community Coordinator for Bronx Community Board 3, where he works directly with residents, laborers, small businesses, and city agencies to address neighborhood concerns and advocate for real investment in the Bronx. For more than a decade, Courtland has also been on the front lines of the housing crisis through his work with BronxWorks, helping hundreds of individuals and families secure permanent housing and stability. Prior to public service, he spent over 20 years in New York’s financial sector at institutions including Chase, Citibank, Bank of New York, and Goldman Sachs.
