…a time to weep…thoughts on Scriptural lament…

It might seem out of place to post this old sermon on Scriptural lament in a season of celebration.  And yet, in this very season that is supposed to be one of hope, too many are experiencing hopelessness.  A proper understanding, and practice, of Scriptural lament offers a light along the pathway through the very real brokenness, to a place of blessing found only in God Himself, and in Him alone...the very gift we seek to celebrate.

Don’t lose heart! …thoughts from 2 Corinthians 4

It might seem out of place to post this old sermon entitled "Don't lose heart!" in a season of celebration.  And yet, the Apostle Paul's Spirit inspired words remind us that in the face of the very real pressures and struggles we might be facing in this season, we are, under the Sovereign Hand of our loving Heavenly Father, in a "life-through-death" situation...the pathway to the very reality of resurrection life in our Savior, our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Do you struggle when reading the Old Testament Scriptures?  The New Testament writers provide us with some clear and helpful instructions regarding what we should be looking for as we read the Old Testament.  With that focus, our reading can be far more fruitful...bringing far greater blessing...by His grace, and for His glory.
