Beschreibung

Who does the gospel concern? In this lesson, we examine Paul's declaration in Romans 1 that the gospel of God concerns a Person—Jesus Christ. The gospel is not centered upon religious rituals, moral reform, church membership, prayer, or works of righteousness. It concerns the Lord Jesus Christ alone. We will explore the biblical testimony that God the Father chose His Son to be the central figure of redemption, entrusted Him with all authority concerning salvation, and appointed Him to accomplish the work of the gospel. From Romans 1, Isaiah's prophecy of the Chosen One, and Christ's own testimony, we discover why the gospel is called both the gospel of God and the gospel of Christ. This lesson establishes a foundational truth: there is no gospel apart from Jesus Christ. God ordained that salvation would be found in His Son alone, and any message that shifts the emphasis from Christ to something else is a departure from the gospel of God.

The Gospel of God: Gospel Centrality Pt. 2

If the gospel concerns Jesus Christ, what are the implications for salvation? In this lesson, we continue our study of Gospel Centrality by examining Christ's own testimony concerning His death, burial, and resurrection, and by tracing through the book of Romans the repeated declaration that salvation, righteousness, justification, peace with God, reconciliation, redemption, grace, and eternal life are found in Jesus Christ alone. From Christ's rebuke of Peter in Matthew 16 to Paul's doctrinal arguments in Romans, the Scriptures consistently place the emphasis upon the Person and work of Jesus Christ. The gospel is not centered upon baptism, prayer, church membership, confession, moral reform, or any work performed by man. It concerns the One whom God chose, empowered, and entrusted with the work of redemption. We will also consider the danger of false gospels that diminish Christ by adding human effort to His finished work and examine the unified testimony of the Father, the Holy Ghost, and the Word of God concerning the supremacy of Jesus Christ in salvation. The gospel is not what man can do for God, but what God has accomplished through His Son for sinners who will receive it by faith.

The Gospel of God: Gospel Certainty Pt. 4

Gospel Certainty (Part 4): The Prophecy of the Gospel—Promised in Scripture, Fulfilled in ChristIn part four of “Gospel Certainty,” the lesson reviews prior themes—God as the origin of the gospel, the gospel’s truth and authority, its righteous justice shown in Christ bearing wrath, and its gift and mercy apart from works—then focuses on the prophecy of the gospel as God’s promise in the Old Testament (Romans 1:1–2). The script argues that Scripture definitively defines the gospel as Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:1–4) and that anything added or removed is a false gospel. It emphasizes that prophecy centers on a man, Jesus Christ, not baptism, church, prayers, tongues, or moral reform, citing multiple Old Testament prophecies and New Testament fulfillments to show the gospel’s certainty. The episode ends by urging listeners to trust Christ alone by faith for forgiveness and salvation.

The Gospel of God: Gospel Certainty Pt. 3

Romans: The Gospel as God’s Free Gift—Life, Grace, and Mercy (Gospel Certainty Part 3) In Part 3 of “Gospel Certainty” from Romans, the lesson reviews that the gospel is from God, is certain, carries final authority, and makes no exceptions for unrighteousness, with judgment centered on faith versus unbelief. It then focuses on the gift of the gospel: like God, the gospel gives and does not take, so salvation is by grace and not works, and anything added (baptism, prayer, confession, money, reform, law-keeping, endurance) turns it into a transaction. Citing scriptures including Romans 6:23 [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60k_f0uN9SA&t=383s], Ephesians 2:8–9, and Romans 11:6, it teaches that the gospel alone has power to save and give eternal life to those who believe in Christ’s finished work. The episode also introduces the gospel’s sympathy/mercy: it gives life to the spiritually dead and is received only by those who cease from their own works and trust Christ.
