Turtle Talk - Morgan's Story and the Family's Journey
In this episode, we pick up at the end of Week 1 inside a Nebraska rehab hospital and share what daily life really looked like for Morgan—and for us. From G-tube feeds and trach/BiPAP support to five hours a day of OT, PT, and Speech Therapy, you’ll see how the team began rebuilding the basics: swallowing, tracking, muscle memory, and core stability. We talk honestly about the fear of the unknown, the “one-year window” we kept hearing about, and the mental weight of insurance timelines and “what-ifs.”You’ll also hear how faith and community became our lifeline—church services, the meditation gardens, an incredible night charge nurse who doted on “Princess O’ Morgan,” and a TBI survivor named Mike who volunteered nightly so we could step out and breathe. There were setbacks too: a staph infection, 103° fevers, new meds, and the start of investigating **neuro “storming.” Through it all, we kept asking questions, taking notes, and finding tiny wins that meant everything. This is a real look at inpatient neuro rehab—equal parts exhaustion, hope, and stubborn love.
