Understanding Pain
Why does pain settle quickly for some people, but persist for others? In this episode we explore some of the factors that research suggests may influence whether pain becomes long-lasting. We look at how stress, life experiences, fear of injury, and the way we interpret pain can affect how sensitive the nervous system becomes over time. You’ll also hear how the body’s normal protective responses can sometimes stay switched on longer than necessary, creating a cycle where pain and protection begin to reinforce each other.
