It’s 2026 and the U.S. President is fighting with the Pope and displaying pictures of himself dressed as Jesus. The Secretary of Defense (or is “of War”), recently asked every American to pray to Jesus on bended knee. What happened to the optimistic vision of a future without superstition that was envisioned by our forebears toward the end of the 19th century? Who Cares What You Think?

We often begin our sentences with, “I think.” Yet too many of us ever mention “why” we think what we think. I think statements that are unsubstantiated with one’s reasons for thinking are pointless and would be better off not being stated at all. Why? Because there are no reasons given to accept something is true solely because somebody thinks it is. In this sermon we’ll consider the value of conjoining every “I think” with a “because.” Listen to the audio only of this sermon.
