Who Is My Neighbor?
We speak with Reverend Katrena King, Director of Monitoring and Resource Development for the General Commission on the Status and Role of Women in the United Methodist Church, about how she and her agency serve the worldwide church while supporting women in leadership at every level. We also discuss her personal journey, from being the daughter of a pastor, to becoming an attorney, and eventually stepping into her own leadership role in the church. We then focus on her understanding of being a good neighbor, especially through her ministry at the women’s detention center in Basile, Louisiana. Finally, we explore women’s leadership and the challenges women face across the church. We discuss how women often carry the church while simultaneously navigating their own basic needs, and why we need to listen more carefully to women’s stories before trying to solve problems for them. - Produced and hosted by Pastor Leigh Rachal - Produced and edited by Jeremiah Lee McVay - Released and distributed by Stereoactive Media in association with Louisiana Interchurch Conference - Mentioned in the episode: An Unholy Fear of Neighbor [https://www.resourceumc.org/en/partners/gcsrw/home/content/an-unholy-fear-of-neighbor?fbclid=IwY2xjawRCE3JleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZBAyMjIwMzkxNzg4MjAwODkyAAEeWSUPFGAkPzX_H9PlZB8yiTSSNk0eO6rZ91-mWFX5piZN1vs9S7E8vOh8ZRw_aem_7VAthMHO2eP_zw16OUBcvA&utm_id=97758_v0_s00_e0_tv0]
