episode Ep. 36 "What's Your Finish Line? " - Cody Hobelmann cover

Ep. 36 "What's Your Finish Line? " - Cody Hobelmann

Cody's top priority had always been to build his own financial kingdom. He was striving for more and wanted to do what it took to accomplish this. Then, in 2016, through a sermon series at church, him and his wife were challenged to give and focus on tithing for 2017. This led Cody to really start thinking about his finances and this concept of generosity and giving, asking a lot of questions, and diving into God's word to learn more. His brother, Kealan, also challenged and stretched him in a lot of ways when it came to contentment, having enough, and truly being a good steward with what he had. Cody would go on to become a financial advisor and help his clients wrestle with these same questions and topics. Cody and his brother have also started The Finish Line Pledge which helps people set their financial finish line. We spend a lot of time talking about this concept, their finish line calculator and just what it means to have enough. In this episode, we take a look at Deuteronomy 8 and the story of the Israelites being given exactly what they would need each day and yet how hard it was to stay obedient to that promise. Listen to the end as Cody shares a story about his nonprofit, Compound Impact, and how they are using real estate to impact refugees and why they decided to make it a non-profit. https://www.finishlinepledge.com/about/ https://www.compoundimpact.org/

episode Ep. 35 "Trust in the Process, and Faith in the Outcome" - Josh Wymore, Ph.D. cover

Ep. 35 "Trust in the Process, and Faith in the Outcome" - Josh Wymore, Ph.D.

Josh Wymore, Ph.D. joins me on today's episode. While working his side hustle, Josh realized that those were the best hours of his week, so he set out to make it 40 hours doing what he loves. Over the years, Josh has turned that into a reality. As an author, executive coach of fortune 500 companies, and a keynote speaker including a TEDx talk back in the fall of 2024, Josh has a passion for helping leaders become better by focusing their energy, skills, and mindset on becoming humbler. In today's episode we look at Proverbs 22:7 and how debt plays such a big part of our lives. How we struggle with lacking contentment and wanting more than we need. Josh shares a story of his upbringing and how his parents were very open to them about their financial situation, specifically with debt, and how that has had a lasting impact on leading his own family. We talk about the pain of self-discipline verse the pain of regret and how our job is to faithfully say yes to God even when we don't fully know where that might be taking us. We also talk about time debt and how important it is to have margin and understand our limits so that we can have lasting joy and freedom. Listen to the end as Josh challenges us to focus on fasting rather than abundance because we live in a culture that wants us to consume more. episode Ep. 34 "God's Word Works" - Ron Blue cover

Ep. 34 "God's Word Works" - Ron Blue

It was a privilege and honor to interview Ron Blue. After working on Mainstreet, Wall Street and doing overseas work, Ron was convicted that there was a big part of faith and finances missing - that personal financial advice was following a secular worldview and not a biblical worldview. Over the last 40-50 years, Ron has been on a mission to make this a reality. Founder of Ron Blue Institute, Ron Blue Trust, Author of 17 books including Master Your Money and starting Kingdom Advisors, Ron has gone on to equip individuals, couples, and advisors to be more educated on looking at our finances from a biblical perspective and how we can become better stewards with what we have been blessed with. In our discussion we highlight a variety of scripture verses in addition to talking through some resources including the 4H's and the 5 uses of money. Finally, Ron shares stories including how a lot of his journey started on a napkin. Ron Blue Institute - Ron Blue Institute [https://ronblueinstitute.com/] Master Your Money: https://a.co/d/eUWkPsr

episode Ep. 33 " Learning Through Experience" - Ross McCampbell cover

Ep. 33 " Learning Through Experience" - Ross McCampbell

Ross McCampbell is the Executive Director at WBCL Radio in Fort Wayne, IN. Early on in life, Ross knew he wanted to do something in television or radio. After earning a communications degree from Ohio State University, he felt the pull to radio. After a few entry level positions, Ross interviewed at WBCL in 1989 and has been there ever since. In 2011, Ross became the Executive Director, which is the position he still holds. Ross shares about his time at WBCL and how in today's culture, people usually bounce around jobs and look for that "next best thing". He talks about God's faithfulness during his time at WBCL. We spend time in this episode looking at Paul's letter to the church in Philippi, where we specifically look at Philippians 4:12. Learning about what God's word says about money, wealth, and possessions takes time and is a process. The more we dwell and dedicate ourselves to learning, the more experiences we have that make us understand things better. We also discuss how Jesus valued balance during his time on earth which often led him going off by himself to dwell and pray. Finally, listen as Ross shares stories from his earlier life on how God's provision came through time and time again. How lessons learned during those times have made him into the person and leader he is today.
