Truth Walls For Runaway Emotions

We talk about why emotions make great servants but terrible bosses, and how Christians can stop living at the mercy of anxiety, guilt, fear, envy, anger, bitterness, and even sorrow without pretending those feelings don’t exist. The goal isn’t an emotionless life, it’s an anchored life where feelings enrich you while truth leads you. We share a simple, repeatable process we call building “walls of truth.” Think of all the Scripture, sermons, worship lyrics, and spiritual reminders you’ve collected over the years like a box of Lego bricks. Most of us have more truth than we use. When you start pulling that truth out on purpose and “building” with it, your emotions stop running wild and start running into God’s promises. That’s where real spiritual growth, emotional health, and Christian maturity begin to show up on Monday morning, not just Sunday. We also unpack a line that creates instant resistance: you can’t be a better Christian than you are right now. That leads us into grace, imputed righteousness, and the freedom of knowing you can’t earn more acceptance, more love, or more forgiveness than Jesus has already secured. How To Stop Fear And Envy From Running Your Life

It sneaks in through comparison, through scrolling, through keeping up, through that quiet thought that says, “God might not come through for me.” That’s why we go after a surprising pair in this conversation: envy and fear. They look unrelated, but they often share the same root accusation against God. When we believe that lie, our emotions stop serving us and start bossing us around. We unpack a practical way to fight back: building “walls” and “hallways” for your emotions using Scripture, prayer, worship, and community. Instead of trying to become less emotional, we learn how to be fully human without letting anger, anxiety, or envy become destructive. We talk about why emotions run in packs, how envy turns into fear of missing out, and why chasing more money, more stuff, or someone else’s lane is always chasing the wind. Pastor Ryan and Pastor Tim also lay out three key “walls” to put up in daily life: identity (knowing whose you are and what race you’re running), contentment (learning satisfaction with God’s provision), and trust (letting God prove Himself faithful through obedience). We also challenge the church to recover what actually moves things: faithful prayer that no one applauds but heaven responds to. Learning To Build Walls Around Your Emotions

Palm Sunday: Expectations and the Surprise of Jesus

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/1331284/fan_mail/new] One week the crowd lays down cloaks and shouts “Hosanna.” A few days later the chant turns into “Crucify.” That swing isn’t just ancient history, it’s a snapshot of how quickly our hopes can harden when God doesn’t follow our script. Pastor Ryan and Pastor Tim kick off The Reveal Easter series by unpacking Palm Sunday expectations and the deeper question underneath them: are we trusting God, or are we betting everything on “the right guy” to deliver the life we want? We walk through the story behind the story, from Israel’s long memory of oppression to the way signs and fulfilled prophecy fueled real confidence. Then we bring it painfully close to home by naming the versions of Jesus we’re tempted to build: problem solver Jesus when we’re desperate, prosperity Jesus when outcomes define our worth, comfort Jesus when we want relief without change, and political Jesus when we try to turn faith into a weapon for an agenda. These themes hit the core of Christian discipleship, spiritual formation, and what it means to surrender our identity instead of using God like a tool. The turning point is simple but hard: our expectations aren’t too high, they’re too low. God’s purpose is bigger than immediate relief, and he often prioritizes transformation over rescue on demand.
