They were 73 when they passed, six months apart from one another. For three years of their lives, I was their primary caregiver and spent every day with them. Seeing a parent suffer from this disease is something no one should go through. I am a Christian and even in the darkest days when I didn’t have the strength to open my bible, I felt God carrying me through. At the age of 50, I was diagnosed with MCI or Pre-Alzheimer's and also found out I have one copy of the APOE4 gene. I worked with my doctors and started focusing on my lifestyle, diet, exercise, and brain health. After a year of focusing on these areas of my life, I regained my cognitive function and kept my cognitive abilities at 100%. Once I saw the positive outcome of focusing on brain health to fight Alzheimer's and Dementia, I felt compelled to give back. That is when The Night of Hope was born. The Night of Hope is a pending 501(c)(3) with the mission of bringing hope to those living or caring for someone with Alzheimer's or Dementia. www.thenightofhope.com

Can Processed Foods Contribute to Dementia - Exploring the Link Between Diet and Cognitive Health

What if the foods you’re consuming every day are quietly increasing your risk of Alzheimer’s and dementia? It’s a reality many of us face, and it all starts with what we eat. From the standard American diet (SAD) to highly processed foods and inflammatory ingredients, your daily diet may be doing more harm to your brain than you think. The rise in dementia and Alzheimer’s is no coincidence. Studies show a clear link between processed foods—loaded with sugars, unhealthy fats, and additives—and cognitive decline. These foods create chronic inflammation, which affects brain function and can lead to long-term damage. In contrast, anti-inflammatory and organic foods help protect your brain and lower your risk of Alzheimer’s. Genetically modified foods (GMOs) and foods packed with preservatives can also wreak havoc on your cognitive health. They may be convenient, but they come at a cost. Learn how avoiding these products and opting for organic, whole foods rich in omega-3s and antioxidants can be a game-changer in preventing dementia. Join us as we explore how making simple, intentional changes to your diet today can help protect your brain for the future. En fantastisk app med et enormt stort udvalg af spændende podcasts. Podimo formår virkelig at lave godt indhold, der takler de lidt mere svære emner. At der så også er lydbøger oveni til en billig pris, gør at det er blevet min favorit app.
