Keyshawn Phelps is an author and award-winning engineer from Newark, New Jersey. He is the author of the book ' The Mindset Shifter'. Phelps believed "with the right mindset, you can attain any goal that's set". Keyshawn is the oldest of five in a single-parent household in Newark. His father was incarcerated for most of his childhood. Keyshawn says he watched his mother work multiple jobs to support their family and valued her advice to always focus on the bigger picture, meaning that although life might throw obstacles our way, we must be determined to pursue our goals no matter what.

I covered a small portion of this case as a news reporter in Memphis, Tennessee. Here's a recap of where the case stands now: Timothy Herrington Jr. is now indicted again after a mistrial. In the early morning of July 8th, 2022 20 year-old Jimmie Jay Lee dressed only in his bathrobe, a gold bonnet, and house shoes left his student apartment in Oxford, Mississippi. Private messages would eventually lead investigators to his alleged killer Timothy Herrington Jr., a college grad from a longtime "church family".
