Depicting the Invisible, a portrait series of veterans suffering from PTSD by artist Susan J. Barron, served as the basis for this podcast. Her work came in direct response to the 22 veterans who commit suicide every day. Barron's portrait series had an extended run at the National Veterans Memorial and Museum in Columbus. Through interviews by the artist, this podcast hopes to continue the discussions that her work has begun, and shine a light on the power of art, the epidemic of PTSD and suicide, Military sexual assault, and the power of music to heal. Episodes were produced and edited by Mike Foley.

Artist Susan J Barron discusses her portrait of Pt. Ken Weinert with Josh Mantz, a motivational speaker and process philosopher focused on trauma, consciousness, and near-death experiences. They discuss both Josh and Ken’s near death experiences, what it is like to die, Josh’s military service, PTSD, the concept of moral injury and the power of ancient philosophy to heal trauma.

Artist Susan J. Barron and Dr. Craig Bryan have a wide ranging dialogue around subjects such as Depicting the Invisible, veteran suicide prevention, hopeful new approaches to PTSD treatments, and Dr. Bryan's life-changing experiences in Iraq that cemented his commitment to saving lives. Barron's portrait of Sgt. Damon Zeigler, who sadly took his own life, is the catalyst for the conversation. This work is currently on exhibition at the National Veterans Memorial and Museum in Columbus.
