Haunted Book Club 004 - Part 2 The Chat "Spinach" by E.F. Benson With Gav Cross & John Reppion

The fourth Haunted Book Club and we threw ourselves into the horror horn stew and dumplings* that is ‘Spinach’ by E.F. Benson. It is fair to say from the gecko that both of us are fans of Benson. And hedging our bets it was an easy one to include him in our first run. Featuring recurring themes of cousins and the such like this seemed to be a favoured story. We aggregated the scores. Oh yeah. We scored it. Scare Factor: 1.5/10 - not generally seen as scary whatsoever! Creep Factor: 2/5 - it required a couple of readings in certain places for clarity and for some it just was not creepy at all. Satisfaction: 4/5 - we are not always going to agree and there was a wide range of responses for this one but overall probably not the book club’s favourite yet. You should have a listen and decide for yourself. You missed ‘The AfterLive’. The Substack exclusive and cut section of the HBC.
