episode Pat Tomasulo Wants You To Laugh Your Face Off artwork

Pat Tomasulo Wants You To Laugh Your Face Off

Pat Tomasulo is a man of many talents -- from sports anchor on WGN-TV's Morning Show, to his hilarious standup specials, Pat has been making people laugh for decades. His wife Amy is one of roughly 400,000 people in the US who suffers from trigeminal neuralgia, a nerve disorder doctors classify as one of the worst pains known to mankind. Others simply call it “the suicide disease.” Pat and Amy started “Laugh Your Face Off,” a comedy fundraiser to benefit The Facial Pain Research Foundation (facingfacialpain.org). After a successful debut in 2015, the event has raised over $4.6M. We believe all neighborhoods deserve to be covered in a meaningful way. We amplify positive stories, cover development and local school council meetings and serve as watchdogs in neighborhoods often ostracized by traditional news media. Ground-level coverage Our neighborhood-based reporters don't parachute in once to cover a story. They are in the neighborhoods they cover every day building relationships over time with neighbors. We believe this  ground-level approach not only builds community but leads to a more accurate portrayal of a  neighborhood. Stories that matter to you — every day Since our launch seven years ago, we've published more than 30,000 stories from the neighborhoods, covered hundreds of community meetings and send daily and neighborhood newsletters to more than 150,000 Chicagoans.  We've built this loyalty by proving to folks we are not only covering their neighborhoods, we are a part of them.  Some of us have internalized the national media's narrative of a broken Chicago. We aim to change that by celebrating our neighborhoods and chronicling the resilience of the people who fight every day to make Chicago a better place for all.

An AI School With No Teachers Coming To Chicago This Fall

Alpha Schools, opening this fall in the former GEMS Academy in Lakeshore East [https://blockclubchicago.org/2025/02/14/gems-world-academy-for-sale-in-lakeshore-east/], says its AI-driven model can help students learn core academics in just two hours a day, freeing up time for workshops, unique projects and learning various life skills. Using only software, no textbooks or homework, the classrooms are also purged of traditional teachers and replaced with “guides” who are instructed to motivate students as they complete their virtual lessons. After Chuy's Controversial Exit, A New Era Of Latino Leadership Begins

Rep. Jesús “Chuy” García dropped his reelection campaign at the last minute in November, giving Patty García, his chief of staff, a head start on filing petitions and potentially a clear path to Congress. The move instead set off a campaign frenzy; now, four independent candidates are vying for the congressional seat. The race is shaping up to be one of the most unique in the country as the seat — held by Latino Democrats for more than 30 years — could be taken by an independent in November’s general election.
