Depression is one of my life companions that made me go within. Psychotherapy, counselling, self-help books - none of them went deep enough for me to grasp the root cause. And none of them was interested in my self-sufficiency as I was. Then slowly and accidentally, as I was digging deeper and deeper into my wisdom, things lead to Buddhism. It took me a few years and I soon learnt that it's not for us to intellectualise but it's for us to use to heal and to become more virtuous if we wanted to find our peace with ourselves and others. Buddhism helped me massively and still does. Why? Because, unlike other methods, it goes to the root causes of our suffering. And the root causes, my friend, are not that unique as we think, they are rather universal facts about our humanity. Unlike depression, anxiety was a sneaky ad-hoc companion of mine that I often didn't recognise. We often live our lives not knowing we're hit by an anxiety tsunami and more often than we should, we fake it and push it under the carpet until it becomes a real issue. Through my practice and studies, I learnt to become so much more self-aware. That sounds awesome but it also leaves us no break from that which we dislike about us or what we don't want to deal with. But I'll take it if that means living a more peaceful and joyful life. In the recent years, life threw some scenarios at me which at times made me feel like a crazy woman.
