Brian Gerald Bulger is a singer-songwriter based in the Midwest. We first met him during the No Surprises showcase in Kansas City last December and wanted to sit down for a more formal interview to talk about his life and work, and specifically his new EP and memoir, both titled Thank God I'm Far From Heaven, which are out now. Heartfelt and soulful, this multifaceted project focuses on Bulger's tumultuous upbringing, loss of his two siblings, and his grapple with religion and purpose.Warning: this conversation contains discussion of religious trauma, grief and childhood trauma. Coming to us from northern Colorado by way of Florida, Shelby released her debut EP "Taylored World" in 2020 after dropping a string of catchy singles. Many of her songs have a theatrical quality to their storytelling, and she has built a massive following on TikTok with over 183 thousand followers. We begin our series with Denver's own, and our friends, The Mazlows. The Mazlows are a pop punk powerhouse that hails from Denver, Colorado. Formed in 2017, the four-piece band released their debut album "Community Locker" in August 2020 after a year and a half in the making.You might recognize The Mazlows as one of the acts that performed on The Hallow Stream, our Halloween streaming fundraiser we did back in October, and this episode comes from that session. Recorded and mixed at The Keep studios in Denver by engineer Nick Sullivan, The Mazlows were kind enough to perform several songs from their new album "Community Locker".
