episode Persian Gulf War & The Supply Chain Disruption cover

Persian Gulf War & The Supply Chain Disruption

In this Audio Podcast (Space on X) with Navroop Singh, Himja Parekh & Siddharth Sharma , we break down one of the most critical geopolitical flashpoints of our time i.e. American Israel war against Iran in 2026 & the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and its far-reaching consequences on the global economy, supply chains, and power structures. Often described as the world’s most important oil chokepoint, Hormuz carries nearly a fifth of global oil trade and a significant share of LNG flows. But what happens when that artery is disrupted? We begin by unpacking the first-order effects: immediate shocks to oil, gas, and fertilizer supply chains, and how countries like India, China, and Europe scramble to secure alternatives. The conversation then expands into second-order consequences, where industrial ecosystems from petrochemicals and textiles to semiconductors and automobiles begin to fracture under rising costs and shortages. The episode then dives deeper into third-order effects, exploring how inflation spikes, central banks react, and why this crisis is fundamentally different from the 1973 oil embargo. We examine the risks of bond market instability, liquidity squeezes, and the potential bursting of asset bubbles in sectors like AI and technology. Finally, we explore the military and geopolitical dimension how Iran’s asymmetric warfare strategy, China’s rare earth dominance, and shifting alliances across the Middle East, Europe, and Asia are reshaping the global order. This episode offers a comprehensive, data-driven perspective on how a single chokepoint could redefine economics, warfare, and geopolitics in the 21st century. It covers following points: Persian Gulf war & Closure of Strait of Hormuz First Order Effects: - Supply Chains - LNG (US), Canada, Argentina, Brazil - Oil - Russia & Iran, Sanctions Regime - Cuba Blockade - Fertilisers - Saudi Arabia, Qatar, US, Russia & China - India importers - Impact on Food Supply Chains sowing season Second Order Effects on Industrial Supply Chains & Manufacturing: - Petrochemicals, Textiles, Plastics, Rubbers, Packaging - Helium - Semiconductors -Tech Ecosystem - Electronics & Auto Sector Third Order Effects & Why its not 1973 Embargo: - Higher energy prices, Inflation, Rate Hikes - Liquidity Squeeze - GCC Economies Impacted - Comparisons to Past, - Printing in High Inflation - Bond Market Breaks - If you dont print, hike rates AI Bubble Pops Impact on Military & Geo Politics: - US MIC hit - Chinese rare earth advantage - AI investment. episode Pakistan: The Nursery Of Terrorism cover

Pakistan: The Nursery Of Terrorism

In this episode, we explore the transformation of Pakistan into the epicenter of global terrorism in the years following 9/11. What began as a tactical retreat by Al-Qaeda and Taliban fighters turned into a full-fledged resurgence, with North and South Waziristan becoming the launchpads for militancy across Afghanistan and Pakistan. By 2006–07, the Taliban were regaining ground in Helmand, Kandahar, and Zabul, while Al-Qaeda embedded itself deep within Pakistan’s tribal belt. We take listeners through the critical turning points that shaped this trajectory: Dick Cheney’s 2007 visit to Islamabad, the breakdown of peace agreements with Taliban warlords, and the emergence of Lal Masjid in Islamabad as a symbol of radical defiance in the heart of Pakistan’s capital. The siege of Lal Masjid, Benazir Bhutto’s assassination, and the National Reconciliation Ordinance exposed the fragile nexus of politics, intelligence, and militancy. The episode also covers how disillusioned Pakistani military officers defected to join jihadist movements, bringing with them not only battlefield skills but also sophisticated insurgency strategies. This paved the way for Al-Qaeda’s grand designs from targeting NATO supply lines to orchestrating the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, aimed at provoking an India–Pakistan war. We unravel how global jihadist ideology, Pakistan’s domestic politics, and regional rivalries combined to create an enduring cycle of violence. More than just history, this story explains why Pakistan continues to be viewed as the “nursery of terrorism” and why its militant legacy remains central to South Asia’s security challenges today. En fantastisk app med et enormt stort udvalg af spændende podcasts. Podimo formår virkelig at lave godt indhold, der takler de lidt mere svære emner. At der så også er lydbøger oveni til en billig pris, gør at det er blevet min favorit app.
