Are you someone who likes to text or get a phone call? For me, it depends. These days, most people do not want to talk on the phone under any circumstances. On the other hand, there are some people who want to hear your voice and hear your emotions. When you are on the phone, I think you can hear better what the tone of the conversation is. We all know that some real arguments have been started because someone has misread what you were trying to say. To have good communication, you must be able to adapt to different scenarios so you should be open to people who text, people who call and people who prefer face to face interactions. You can't go into any relationship, regardless of who it is with, without bending to meet the other person halfway. If you only do things your way, you will find that you don't have many people to talk to. There are times when a text is just fine. Like when you are on a group chat and they are telling you that the food drive at the school on Saturday at 9a. You don't need to have a phone call for that. Then there are times when you need to have a call. Perhaps you are tutoring someone and they just don't get the concept through text or email. You may have to face time them or just call them to get through to them. No matter what you choose to use, make sure you keep the lines of communication open!

Riding Until The Wheels Fall Off

On this week episode, we discuss riding until the wheels fall off. I know there are some people that will replace things every time a new version comes out and then there are people like me that even if the wheels fall off, you will put duct tape on it and keep on going. This thought process can be instrumental when you are dealing with people too. You may have to be careful with family, friends or even church family. Some people may stay in a situation out of routine and it may not be the best for them. In every facet of life, you have need to ask yourself every once in a while, is this still where I want to be? Is it serving me? Is it what is best for me overall? The answer may be harder to answer than you think. You have to take the time to look over things and make sure that whatever it is that you have is worth keeping until the wheels fall off. And never think that what you do for a person or company will be returned.”

How To Stay Joyful In This Holiday Season

Hello Friends! Today we are talking about how to stay joyful in this holiday season. For some, the holidays are a very big deal and we can allow it to overtake us and our households, families and friends. However you don't have to be in the number of people that are super stressed out. There are several ways that you can unstress yourself, to a point. You can set a spending limit for yourself and your family. If you have a $50 limit for a gift, you don't have to spend $50. You can buy a few gifts that add up to $50, you can do things in lieu of a gift, like a cookie exchange or a sweater exchange. Try to keep things that stress you out away from you. If you have a relative that is always pushing your buttons, do you best to stay away from them. Remember, you have to be a gracious host when hosting however, you also have to be a gracious guest. Don't go over to someone else's house and demand that they do something because that is what makes you happy. It is not your house. Don't bring up something that may trigger someone. If they dropped out of school to start a business and it hasn't worked out yet, don't rub it in. If they are having a difficultly, they knew before they did. Don't keep bringing it up. Do something nice for someone if you can. It doesn't even have to cost money. Hold the door for someone. Give someone a smile instead of a scowl. Help take someone's trash cans to the curb. Do small steps to make yours and someone's holiday better.”

Can We Wait Until Christmas!

“On this episode, we discuss people and companies moving way too fast when it comes to the Christmas holiday. It is barely past Halloween when we are being bombarded with eggnog, nativity scenes and Christmas music on every station, streaming service and Hallmark. Don't get me started on the Hallmark channel! :) Are you one of those types of people who starts planning for Christmas on January first? I can't really talk because that is how I feel about Thanksgiving! But I don't do Thanksgiving on MLK Day! Why can't we just enjoy one holiday at a time? There is Halloween if that is your thing (I know a lot of people who love candy) , then there is Thanksgiving and then there is Christmas. I know we love what we love but can we slow down a bit? Life moves by so fast already so why not enjoy it? People try to fast forward two months just to buy presents for people they don't even like or spend that much time around. Let us know what type of person you are. Have you already stalked the stores for new decorations or could you really care less?”

Church Burnout

“On this episode, we discuss church burnout. Burnout can happen from too much of anything. It doesn't matter whether you are taking care of an animal, friends, running an office or even planning a party. Any of these things can sometimes become too much. You can become overwhelmed by things that you have prayed for. When you receive things that the Lord has given you, you need to be ready to receive them. Once you receive them, enjoy them. Try to make sure the burnout in your life doesn’t cause you to have arguments with the people in your life. Don't let your burnouts turn you into a person that you don't want to be around.”
