Introverts in the Workplace--How to Thrive in Team Environments
Do you work on a team? Most likely, you do. Even if you work remotely, or you have your own business, or if you don’t work at all you most likely are a member of some sort of team–you volunteer, the PTA, a Moms group, or something else. Your own family is your team. Teams are everywhere!
According to a Wiley State of Teams white paper [https://acrobat.adobe.com/id/urn:aaid:sc:VA6C2:1dd847d5-a3b0-478e-be98-81ac2f41465e], teams are the building blocks of any organization, and our working lives are becoming more team-oriented than ever before. Can you believe that engaging with your team (or teams, in many cases) now accounts for over 60% of your time? This increase in the number and type of teams, however, has complicated employees’ working lives. Teams are becoming more complex, they’re fluid, they may be in person or remote or (even worse) partially in-person and partially remote! It takes a lot of energy to navigate an environment in constant flux. That’s no easy task, and we must be flexible, socially adept, and relationship savvy in order to navigate interpersonal challenges and achieve collective gains within and across our teams.
In this second episode of Quiet Grit, we’re going to be talking about teams, and I will be relating with you on the various challenges of being an introvert in a teamwork environment, affirming you on the unique strengths you bring to your work, and sharing actionable tips to help you not just survive, but thrive, in a collaborative setting. So, keep listening, because this information is going to allow you to honor your style, and unleash your potential.
