Proverbs 1 - The Fear of the Lord is the Beginning of Wisdom - 2026 - A Summer of Wisdom

This week we will begin a new series for the summer in Proverbs called Walking in Wisdom! We will consider Proverbs 1-9, and 31 over the next ten weeks led by various members of our preaching team. This week I will get us started by looking at Proverbs 1. The most important verse in Proverbs is Proverbs 1:7 “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.” In Proverbs, Solomon wants to teach us wisdom for practical, Godly living as followers of Jesus. But wise living begins with one important decision. Will we be wise and acknowledge God as Lord of our lives and live in response to that reality, or will we play the fool and reject him? One path leads to life and another to destruction. Solomon’s call to us through lady wisdom is to choose God and his ways thereby gaining life.

Delighting in the Lord - In His Creation - 2026 - Delighting in the Lord

This week we will look at how we delight in the Lord in his creation. We are blessed to live in UT and God’s glorious creative works are on display every day. Many of us live here because we love the outdoors. But the created world is meant to be a place that points us to God and says many things about him. Ultimately as we delight in the Lord in his creation it should lead us to praise our good creator God that has saved us in the person of Christ.

This week Pastor Jim Harding will be continuing our new sermon series entitled “Delighting in the Lord”. Pastor Jim will share with us about delighting in His character. We serve a great God who is all loving, faithful, and patient, who holds everything together, and still cares for each of us deeply and personally. Psalm 145:3 says: “Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable.” We can’t fully understand the depth of the character of God but we can know what He has revealed to us. So what is our response to God’s greatness? Check out the verse right before it. “Every day I will bless you and praise your name forever and ever.” As we gather in worship tomorrow morning. Let us delight in the Lord, worship Him, and be prepared for what he has to say to us about Himself through His word.

Sometimes it is easy to overlook the fact that God saved us with a great and enjoyable purpose in mind. Really the end of our salvation is that we get to know and enjoy the Lord forever. In this series we will look at how the Bible calls us to delight in the Lord in his word, in his character, in creation, and in the salvation Jesus has accomplished for us. Today we will consider how we delight in the Lord in his Word. Psalm 19:7-11 and Psalm 119 are great reflections on what it looks like to delight in God’s word. There are many ways to delight ourselves in God’s word, but as we do so we want to get to know the God of the word.
