Gerek and his companions have survived their first night outside the shelter of their village, but not without injury. Erod, their leader, lies badly wounded and feverish. With little supplies, and only a cave for refuge, tensions are high among the company. Ribrn in particular, has grown bitter toward Gerek and his dear friend Zurad. Bonding Need

Gerek has reached the end of his patience. Too many of his people have fallen victim to the schemes of the Wolf King and his pack of fiends. Something has to be done. But, all he has accomplished on his own is stir the wrath of his village's council of elders against him. For him to make a true impact, he will have to leave the village. And to do that, he will need allies.
