Working Mom Guilt: Missing School Moments and Carrying the Mental Load

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2158997/fan_mail/new] In this episode of Steel Roses Podcast, I’m sharing the working mom guilt that hit after I missed two important school moments for my kids in the span of two weeks. From a student council speech that never got written in time to missing my son on stage at Battle of the Books, these moments made me rethink what it really means to be present. We talk about the mental load of motherhood, ADHD, family schedules, work deadlines, school responsibilities, and the feeling that your brain has 100 browser tabs open at once. When you are carrying too much, something eventually drops. This conversation is about mom guilt, parenting mistakes, burnout, and learning when to close a few tabs so you can show up where it counts most. If you are a working mom trying to manage it all, this episode is your reminder that you are not alone. Support the show [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2158997/support] Love this content? The Working Mom Shuffle: Career, Kids, Mom Guilt, and Boundarie

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2158997/fan_mail/new] In this episode of Steel Roses Podcast, I hit record from my car and get a real-time reminder of working mom life when my daughter calls mid-recording. That moment leads into an honest conversation about mom guilt, career pressure, work-life balance, and the daily shuffle of trying to be present at home while still showing up professionally. I share what it looks like to travel from the Jersey Shore to New York for client meetings while keeping the family running, the pressure working moms feel to “choose,” and the guilt that comes with missing important moments. We also talk about practical ways to make it work, including boundaries, efficiency, family time, and returning to work after bedtime when needed. For every working mom navigating motherhood, career, burnout, and the mental load, this episode is your reminder: it is possible, and you are not alone. Is Vaping Really 95% Safer Than Smoking? The Truth About Nicotine, Health Risks, and Harm Reduction

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2158997/fan_mail/new] The Easy Way to Quit Smoking [https://amzn.to/3Q3G16H] Is vaping really 95% safer than smoking cigarettes? That claim is everywhere, but what does it actually mean — and what is it leaving out? In this episode, we break down the viral “vaping is 95% safer than cigarettes” statistic, where it came from, and why it is often misunderstood as meaning vaping has only 5% of the risk. We talk about the difference between expert estimates, harm reduction messaging, and long-term health data — because when it comes to vaping, nicotine addiction, and your body, the fine print matters. We also look honestly at the harm reduction argument. For adults who smoke combustible cigarettes, switching completely to vaping may reduce exposure to many toxic chemicals created by burning tobacco. But dual use — vaping while still smoking — can limit or erase that benefit. And because vapes are easy to use, highly accessible, and often flavored, nicotine intake can increase quickly without people realizing it. This episode also explores the health risks of vaping beyond nicotine addiction. Vape aerosol is not just harmless water vapor. Nicotine can impact heart rate, blood pressure, sleep, mood, anxiety, and addiction pathways, and it is especially concerning for teens and young adults whose brains are still developing. We also discuss why health organizations like the CDC and American Heart Association continue to warn about possible cardiovascular, lung, and long-term health concerns linked to vaping. If you are vaping, trying to quit, or wondering whether vaping is actually safer than cigarettes, this episode offers a no-spin look at what we know, what we do not know yet, and what finally helped me quit. Subscribe for more honest health conversations, share this episode with someone who vapes, and leave a review with your take: should vaping ads be allowed to say “95% safer”? Perimenopause, ADHD, Anxiety, and the Battle With Late-Night Snacking

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2158997/fan_mail/new] Your brain can know the “right” choice and still want the cupcakes at 10 PM. In this episode of Steel Roses Podcast, we get honest about emotional eating, late-night snacking, food cravings, anxiety, motivation, hormones, ADHD, perimenopause, and the habits that show up exactly when we feel the least prepared to fight them. We talk about the gap between knowing what supports your health and actually choosing it when stress, exhaustion, hormones, or old coping patterns take over. From hormone cycles and the luteal phase to the way perimenopause and ADHD can impact mood, focus, impulse control, cravings, and self-regulation, this conversation explores why self-awareness is not just a wellness buzzword — it is a survival skill for women’s mental health. We also share a personal story about lifelong weight swings, disordered eating patterns, food addiction, emotional eating, and the constant tug-of-war between wanting change and falling back into familiar habits. One practical takeaway is a simple nightly self-talk strategy that can interrupt late-night snacking, reduce food guilt, and create space for a better choice in the morning. This episode also looks at the bigger picture of midlife wellness for women, including nutrition, reducing processed foods, consistent exercise, prevention, and caring for your body before a health scare forces you to pay attention. A sudden loss of a colleague in his mid-40s is a reminder that life can change quickly, and that self-care, movement, and healthier habits are worth taking seriously now. Then we move into anxiety management with a real example of travel anxiety: the chest tightness, throat pressure, racing thoughts, and worst-case scenarios that can take over before a trip. We walk through a practical step-by-step anxiety tool: name the anxiety attack, regulate your nervous system with slow breathing, use a focus anchor like a fidget, and keep moving forward even when anxiety is loud. If you have ever struggled with emotional eating, anxiety, food guilt, hormone-related mood changes, ADHD, perimenopause symptoms, or the frustration of knowing what to do but not always being able to do it, this episode is for you. You are not broken. You are human, and you can practice your way forward. episode When Your Past Shapes Your Future: Healing, Choice, and Responsibility cover

When Your Past Shapes Your Future: Healing, Choice, and Responsibility

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2158997/fan_mail/new] Two brothers grow up with the same alcoholic father, yet their lives take completely different paths. When asked why, both give the same answer: “Because of my father.” That story opens the door to a powerful conversation about trauma, resilience, personal responsibility, and how our perception of the past can shape the choices we make in the present. In this episode of Steel Roses Podcast, we explore how childhood trauma, abuse, assault, and painful family patterns can influence the way we see ourselves, trust others, cope with stress, and build our lives. Trauma does not make someone weak, but it can wire our beliefs, reactions, relationships, and sense of safety in ways that are hard to untangle without support. Healing takes work, and support matters. We also talk about what it means to turn pain into purpose. Whether it is breaking generational cycles for your children, building a safer and more stable life, or helping other women who are still living in survival mode, trauma can become a catalyst for change. I reflect on past guests who have transformed violence, fear, and hardship into advocacy, strength, and purpose — reminding us that recovery is possible and resilience is real. This conversation also explores women’s financial independence, family separation, motherhood, and the lessons our children absorb by watching us work, struggle, rebuild, and succeed. Are we chasing stability from a place of fear, or are we building a life rooted in hope, freedom, and self-worth? If you have ever felt torn between honoring what happened to you and choosing to move forward, this episode is for you.
