Podacsters Graine and Casy with Lilian as director Seamus was one of the founding member of Killen Macra Na Tuaithe, a group that was set up due to lack of transport to Louisburgh town for young people in the area and the necessity for better opportunities and community engagement in rural Ireland. Killeen Macra Na Tuaithe organised lively events that brought together locals of all ages, fostering connections and igniting passions. He and fellow members explored new avenues like agriculture workshops, cultural festivals, and sports competitions, transforming the group's vision into tangible initiatives that energised the whole community. This group were instrumental in turning Killen Macra Na Tuaithe into a beacon of hope for young people seeking growth and connection in their lives. They won the 1976 Macra Na Tuaithe Citizenship award.

Andy was a vibrant member of Louisburgh Macra Na Tuaithe, which was essentially the forerunner to the group we’ve come to know as Louisburgh Foróige. Back in the day, Andy and his friends thrived in this community-driven organisation that brought young people together for fun, togetherness, and personal development. They were all about organising local events, whether it was setting up exciting sports competitions or engaging in social nights filled with music and laughter. This camaraderie not only fostered lifelong friendships but also played a crucial role in building the vibrant spirit of Louisburgh itself. As times evolved, so did Macra Na Tuaithe into what we now recognise as Foroige, but the essence of community spirit that Andy cherished remains a cornerstone of Louisburgh Foróige.
