We discuss how language varies across countries, why certain phrases may mean very different things depending on culture, and how simply trying to communicate can help patients feel more comfortable and supported. Language is imperfect. Accents are different. Vocabulary changes from country to country. But patients notice when you try, and that effort can go a very long way in helping someone feel safe and cared for during pregnancy.
