episode Nashville Tech Feed #36 - Kickstarter High Tech Begging or Pre-selling? cover

Nashville Tech Feed #36 - Kickstarter High Tech Begging or Pre-selling?

Kickstarter has been around since 2009 and only just recently it has burst into the view of the mainstream internet user. Every week, tens of thousands of people pledge millions of dollars to projects from the worlds of music, film, art, technology, design, games, fashion, food, publishing, and other creative fields. Since its launch more than one and a quarter million people have pledged $130 million to projects by creators who always maintain full ownership and complete creative control of their work. But there is a stigma associated with the crowdfunding model in the music industry. That Kickstarter is no more than begging for money from friends and relatives. In this episode of the Nashville Tech Feed we dive into the topic of Kickstarter and crowdfunding. Independent author Brett Henley joins us to discuss his Kickstarter project and share his experience from start to finish. Also in the conversation is Artist manager and entertainment attorney Eric Griffin with the music industry perspective. In the second part of the episode we go over the upcoming Podcamp Nashville 2012 which is April 14, 2012 Downtown Nashville. As always we end the show with what media we're consuming. Nashville Tech Feed #35 - Dude Where's My Music, To the Amazon Cloud

Dude where’s my music? If you’ve seen the movie “Dude Where’s My Car” it’s a little like that when it comes to moving your music around. The search continues for the perfect solution to get music from place to place while keeping it in sync. Is the cloud aka online storage the silver bullet? Amazon.com has jumped into the game with their Amazon Cloud Player, this online “hard drive” is where you can stream your music to your computer or Android phone. it’s not perfect but It’s a big player entering a legal gray space for licensing. As always with something new the Labels are suing already. Others like MOG and Rdio try for the all you can eat err listen, still others cling to the pay per download like Apple. From our discussion it’s a combination of a couple services to get what you want. Then there is the music industry 800 pound gorilla in the room who are still clinging to the old model while seemly afraid of new ideas. If the average music buyer would subscribe to a all you can eat plan there would four fold their yearly music spend. Why wouldn’t you want that? In episode #35 of the Nashville Tech Feed our panel of Lucas Hendrickson and Paul Schatzkin discuss Amazon’s Cloud Player and the labels response to the, streaming services, the future of the business of how you listen to music and more. We finish as always with “What We’re Consuming” Enjoy, leave comments via email: comments@nashvillefeed.com, twitter.com/nashvillefeed or voicemail at 615-280-0505. Nashville Tech Feed #34 - Live from Podcamp Nashville 2011

We’re live from Podcamp Nashville 2011 one of the largest Podcamps in the United States. After a whirlwind day of live streaming everybody else we jump in for the last slot. Wrapping up what was the hot app of the event, mainstreaming of geekery, how traditional media makes new media geeks happy even though we knock it at every chance, a review of the Podcamp day and what stood out. Moving along we continue with the difference between the un-conferences along with how securing sponsorships for each one is very different. Then how the impromptu rooms turned out and what the sessions were there and was the session drawing a success. The future of the Podcamp Nashville do we go two days with tracks or not? Finally finish off with our what were consuming segment! Wheh that was a lot. Enjoy! Nashville Tech Feed #33 - Five or 5 with Podcamp Nashville 2011 Presenter Winston Hearn

Nashville Tech Feed episode #33 is the final part series with shorter one on one interviews with Podcamp Nashville 2011 speakers. The series the Five or 5, it’s five questions with a guest or five minutes which ever comes first. We’re highlighting speakers at Podcamp Nashville who’s sessions we feel are value to see but signup isn’t where we would hope. This last interview is with a speaker who was an alternative and was added to the schedule only a week ago so he hasn't had the exposure of the other sessions. In the last episode we had William Griggs talking about his session Hustlenomics 101: From Idea To Business -- Tips, Tools & Tactics That Work and in episode 33 Winston Hearn independent video producer answers questions about his presentation To Infinity and Beyond: The Basics of Online Video Production Enjoy, leave comments via email: comments@nashvillefeed.com, twitter.com/nashvillefeed or voicemail at 615-280-0505. Nashville Tech Feed #32 - Five or 5 with Podcamp Nashville 2011 Presenter William Griggs

Nashville Tech Feed episode #32 is the third in our four part series with shorter one on one interviews with Podcamp Nashville 2011 speakers. The series the Five or 5, it’s five questions with a guest or five minutes which ever comes first.
