The Northern Aggression Podcast isn’t for the easily offended. Hosted by Marshall, a sharp-tongued Chicagoan with zero filter, and Gunter, the Southern counterpart who keeps things just unhinged enough, this podcast takes on everything—and we mean everything. No topic is safe, no opinion is sugarcoated, and no one gets a free pass. If you can’t handle the heat, this ain’t the show for you. northernaggressionpod@gmail.com

episode Orange Juice Fortified with Sugar cover

Orange Juice Fortified with Sugar

Marshall takes issue with RFK Jr.’s slogan “Make America Healthy Again.” His logic? That implies America was healthy at some point, which he strongly disputes. According to him, even the 1950s weren’t exactly the pinnacle of wellness. That leads him to quiz Gunter on what kids drank in the ’80s. She nails it: Sunny D. Gunter calls it fake orange juice, Marshall calls it “orange juice fortified with sugar,” and both agree it was basically liquid candy. From there, the conversation veers—as it always does. Marshall reminisces about the games he played in elementary school, which quickly spirals into more rants about kids, rules, and how things have changed. It’s fake juice, flawed slogans, and a nostalgic trip to the playground—Northern Aggression style.

episode Is It A Preference? cover

Is It A Preference?

Marshall opens by admitting this episode might be a bad idea—which is never a reassuring start. He wants to talk about sexual preference, and along the way gets hung up on furries, because of course he does. From there, Marshall and Gunter take aim at society’s obsession with “the first of everything”—first this, first that—and question why it matters so much. That somehow leads into a discussion on participation trophies, including a personal story from Gunter that proves the point. They also take a nostalgic detour into Gateway computers (yes, the cow boxes) and even touch on Everest expeditions, because no topic is too far out of reach. It’s questionable topics, cultural commentary, and a few throwbacks—another episode that probably was a bad idea.

episode Amazing Grace cover

Amazing Grace

Marshall and Gunter are at dinner again—because of course they are—and the people-watching does not disappoint. Marshall attempts to break down the dynamics of what he calls a “fake-looking mom,” while Gunter casually drops that she learned some disturbing information about penises. As one does. They share a story about someone they know who OD’d on gummies, which somehow leads into Marshall ranting about celebrity plastic surgery and unrealistic beauty standards. Gunter points out that Marshall is basically impossible to watch TV or movies with, and honestly… that checks out. The surrounding tables continue to provide content, including a woman who mentions being held back in first grade. Marshall forms a strong opinion—based not on that fact, but on everything else she says. From there, we revisit Marshall’s infamous leaf collection, and he closes things out with a story about mispronouncing paninis in a way you won’t forget. It’s dinner, judgment, and questionable vocabulary—classic Northern Aggression.

episode Grand Master P cover

Grand Master P

Gunter and Marshall attempt to video record the episode… and it goes about as well as you’d expect. After trying it one more time, they decide that’s enough innovation for now. Marshall opens with a confession, which quickly devolves into competing song references that don’t quite align. Naturally, Marshall starts making up lyrics—because he loves a good parody and is fully committed to creating his own songs whether anyone asked or not. From there: a rant about buy-one-get-one-half-off deals (he has questions), a surprisingly passionate critique of semicolon usage, and a brief but notable dismissal of Ja Rule. Gunter is both impressed and embarrassed by Marshall’s questionable knowledge of rap and hip-hop. Marshall also pitches new Olympic event ideas and caps things off with a Bob Dylan impression that… you just have to hear. It’s music, grammar, and failed technology—Northern Aggression at full volume.

episode Hoods and Pillow Cases cover

Hoods and Pillow Cases

Marshall opens the episode with a topic—which immediately alarms Gunter because she has no idea where this is going. He admits he’s been thinking about two things: transgender people and cosplay… and mosquitoes. Naturally, he starts with mosquitoes, thanks to getting eaten alive while doing yard work. A sighting at the dog park sparks the jump to the other topic. Marshall explains that while he accepts people, he absolutely reserves the right to judge. Gunter agrees. From there, the conversation somehow winds its way into cosplay, therapy (which both Marshall and Gunter genuinely advocate for), and a surprising number of crosses making appearances. They recount accidentally stumbling into Comic-Con once, throw some shade at Cracker Barrel, and confirm that Marshall does not endorse the Harry Potter lifestyle—Gunter doesn’t really get it either. Gunter introduces a mushroom pod that lets you compost yourself when you die, which she finds bizarre and Marshall finds deeply unsettling. Marshall spirals into a rant about internet cookies (and probably the internet in general), references a book about pool hall deviants, and falls down a rabbit hole involving Ooltewah. Fashion judgments follow, Gunter points out that they judge everything, and Marshall—shockingly—admits his hatred of the Welsh is mostly baseless (mark the date). The episode wraps with Marshall’s impression of the music from The Last Kingdom, lovingly referred to as “the wailing woman.” It’s mosquitoes, morality, cosplay, and unnecessary opinions—Northern Aggression doing what it does best.
