After completing his DOMS from Government Medical College in Gwalior, he finished his Fellowship in Comprehensive Ophthalmology from L.V. Prasad Eye Institute in Hyderabad. Soon after completing his studies Dr. Mittal joined as Junior Consultant at L.V. Prasad Eye Institute. Later he joined as an assistant consultant at Centre for Sight Group of Eye Hospitals.
