episode 1 Year of The Sunset Frontier Podcast: Three Journeys of Free Form Travel cover

1 Year of The Sunset Frontier Podcast: Three Journeys of Free Form Travel

This week on The Sunset Frontier, I’m sharing three different paths that all orbit around the same instinct — to step off the map and follow curiosity wherever it leads. First, there’s a college student who flew out to San Francisco to stay with his uncle, ride buses all day, and meet whoever the universe put in front of him. Second, Charlie and Z, who dove headfirst into the seasonal-work side-quest world — drifting, exploring, and building a life around adventure instead of routine. And finally, Jeff Eccleston — an original golf expedition pioneer — who, twenty years ago, set off on a wild loop of kayaking, biking, and golfing his way across Northern Michigan. Three stories that show there’s no single way to step off the usual path.

episode Ronan 'Goose' Lucey: Caddie Journeys cover

Ronan 'Goose' Lucey: Caddie Journeys

One week after completing @procaddiecert, Goose (@ro_luce) landed his first Tour bag in Puerto Rico. We met during the opening season at @panthernational, both arriving there unexpectedly and bonding over the dream of working on Tour. Goose turned to golf after losing his mom, finding healing in the rhythm the game offered. What began as a competitive outlet evolved into a journey of personal growth. His college team played out of Essex County, he spent a COVID semester in Scotland, and he worked summers at Shelter Harbor alongside pros like Bryson DeChambeau, Keegan Bradley, and Marc Leishman—not shabby. After a stint in corporate sales, he felt the pull back to the game. In winter ’23, he started at Panther and became hooked on the caddie life. Through it all, faith has helped him process grief, find direction, and stay open to what’s next. Today, he’s on a full-time bag on the @kornferrytour, working toward his goal of holding a trophy on Sunday. (Faulty Audio (apologies) + Listen on 1.3x Speed) Where to Next? —Sam @sunsetfrontier
