With over 25 years in the game, Luis Groove is one of the key figures to emerge from the Canary Islands electronic music scene, with a career closely connected to some of its most representative clubs, festivals and projects. Originally from Tenerife, he has built a long-standing path shaped by residencies, large-scale festivals and appearances in different European cities. Since 2013, he has been a resident DJ at Papagayo Tenerife, a club that entered DJ Mag’s Top 100 Clubs for the first time in 2026, reaching number 76 worldwide. Over more than a decade, this residency has placed Luis Groove in one of the most relevant booths in the Canary Islands, sharing line-ups with some of the leading artists on the international circuit. He currently combines this residency with his role as resident DJ at Gekko Club Tenerife, one of the island’s most prominent clubs, as well as being part of Gravity Electronic Parties. His story began in the late 90s, when he became resident DJ at the legendary after-hours club BB+ Tenerife between 1999 and 2009, shaping a whole generation through Sunday sessions that are still remembered today. His career later expanded to mainland Spain with a key period in Madrid, where he became resident at Club 7 between 2009 and 2012 and connected with the capital’s underground scene. Ibiza is also an essential part of his journey. Across several seasons, he held notable residencies at clubs such as Sankeys Ibiza between 2011 and 2012, with the U Wanna Escape? brand within Viva Warriors nights, led by Steve Lawler. Before that, between 2009 and 2010, he was part of Fireland On Sundays at Ushuaïa Beach Club, alongside artists such as Tania Vulcano. During those years, he also developed his work as a producer and label manager. In 2009, he founded Lowpitch Records together with José Armas, releasing his first productions through the label. His tracks and remixes have since appeared on imprints such as Roush, Too Many Rules and Overall Music, receiving support from international artists. His career has also taken him to clubs and festivals across Europe, with appearances at Altavoz Festival and TAG Club in Venice, MFG Club in Berlin, Cirque Paradis in Paris, The Ditch in London, La Ruche in Lausanne, Veranda Lounge in Ukraine, Off Sonar in Barcelona and Fabrik in Madrid. In Spain, he has been a regular presence at festivals such as Eólica, Magma Meeting, Sunblast and GreenWorld, one of the most important events in the Canary Islands. Across these stages, he has shared line-ups and opened the dancefloor for artists such as Ricardo Villalobos, Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin, Marco Carola and Luciano. His current sound moves mainly between house and tech-house, with an identity shaped by 90s old school house and breakbeat, as well as the influence of early 2000s techno and UK tech-house. His sets remain clearly focused on the dancefloor, with a musical selection that crosses different eras and styles, incorporating elements of minimal, deep, garage, acid, funk, disco and techno. Luis holds the groove in a natural balance between the effective and the sophisticated, the modern and the classic. His energy, versatility and instinct for reading the dancefloor allow him to adapt to different settings while keeping a strong connection with the crowd.
