But God doesn't assign us numbers. He gives us names. He sees us individually, personally, and completely. David wasn't the obvious choice to become king. In fact, he was probably the last person many people would have picked. Yet God saw something others missed. That's a reminder worth holding onto when we feel overlooked ourselves. Scripture (NIV): 1 Samuel 16:7 — “But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. Sometimes I think we make life harder than it needs to be. We see a difficult road and assume that's automatically the one God wants us to take. But what if God has already provided a bridge? What if He's opened a door, provided help, or made a path easier—not because we're avoiding faith, but because He's carrying us through it? Life will always have mountains to climb. But not every step has to be a struggle. Sometimes accepting God's provision is an act of faith all by itself. A small brown spot appeared on our ceiling months ago. I noticed it, kept an eye on it for a while, and eventually stopped paying attention altogether. Then one day I looked up and realized it had grown into a much bigger problem. It's amazing how easily we can do the same thing with sin. At first it catches our attention. We know something isn't right. But over time, if we leave it alone, we can become so familiar with it that we stop noticing it altogether. The danger isn't always the obvious things. Sometimes it's the slow drift. The little compromises that quietly grow when left unchecked. Thankfully, God doesn't reveal these things to condemn us. He reveals them so He can heal them. Last night I made the mistake of scrolling a little too long before bed. Story after story reminded me of everything that's wrong with the world. By the time I put my phone down, I felt drained instead of encouraged. It made me realize how important it is to pay attention to what we're feeding our hearts and minds. Just like our bodies need healthy food, our souls need things that bring life, hope, and encouragement. We don't have to ignore reality, but we also don't need a constant stream of negativity. Maybe today is a good day to make room for more of what points us back to God's goodness and less of what leaves us feeling defeated. Are You Drowning in a Toxic World? Do This Instead. | Anchor Points | Ep. 46

Have you noticed that it feels like everything is bad for us these days? One day eggs are good, the next day they're not. The cookware is wrong. The coffee cups are wrong. The food is wrong. Scroll social media long enough and you'll start wondering if it's even safe to breathe. It can be exhausting trying to keep up with every warning, every headline, and every new concern. But maybe this constant reminder of a broken world isn't something we should be surprised by. Jesus already told us that this world would be marked by struggle, decay, and imperfection. The good news is that we were never called to carry the weight of fixing everything. We can be wise, responsible, and care for what God has entrusted to us, but we can also rest in the truth that this world is not our final destination. God is still in control, and our hope was never meant to be found in a perfect world—it was always meant to be found in Him. Scripture (NIV): John 16:33 — “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart!
