Learning to Trust

Morning Mantra: "Trust that you will know what you need to know when you need to know it. "   I posted this one a few years ago and after a conversation with my daughter felt moved to reshare it. Sometimes we feel like we need to force a decision. That life is handing us options and we need to DO something NOW.  But, that is just your anxiety talking.  Anxiety created by fear of the unknown.   When this happens, slow down and trust. Trust yourself.  Trust your inner voice.  Trust that you have what it takes when it's time.  Trust that you can do what you need to do. Trust that you can wait until it's time. A bird on a branch is not afraid of the branch breaking, because her trust is not on the branch, but on her own wings. Let your trust be stronger than your doubt. Morning Mantra: "I don't need everyone to understand my path.  I just need them to stop standing in it." People generally have good intentions when they give you unsolicited advice.  They think they know more than you and are trying to help you avoid failure.  I call these people Dreamshitters. No one knows what you know, what you think, what you are capable of- except you.  If you allow them to influence you then YOU are the one making a choice to quit.  You are the one standing in your path. Sometimes the Universe sends these people or other obstacles to see how much you really want something- not to discourage or warn you. So, don't let someone that doesn't understand the dream convince you it's too big or unattainable.  It doesn't matter what they think- it only matters what you think. Do It Now

Morning Mantra: "One day you will wake up and there won't be any more time to do the things you've always wanted. Do it now." It’s a terrible thing in life to wait to do something on your bucket list until you think you’re ready. I have this feeling now that actually no one is ever really ready.  There’s almost no such thing as ready. There is only now. And you may as well do it now. Generally speaking, now is as good a time as any. Too many people go through life waiting for things to happen instead of making them happen.  But action creates motivation. Action creates a plan. Time is a valuable commodity and it waits for no one. So start.  Just start. Begin by thinking, what can you do today to improve the chances?  Is it more money? More time? Overcoming fear? Whatever it is, start today in overcoming it. Finding Your Rhythm

Morning Mantra: "You find your rhythm when you realize that even the steps backwards were part of the dance." Life is like a dance, and you are the choreographer.  You don’t know the steps until you learn them because in life, you learn as you go.  Sometimes you lead, sometimes you follow. Sometimes you’re moving forward, sometimes you’re moving back. Sometimes you’re waltzing through it gracefully and other times it’s two step forward and one step back. Try to embrace every step, make your dance as fun and beautiful as possible, and if you stumble or fall, make it part of the dance. No Embarrassment Allowed

Morning Mantra: "You can spend your whole life avoiding embarrassment and accidentally avoid joy too." Embarrassment is caused by putting far too much thought into what other people think very little about. It’s better to not care what people think and live life to the fullest rather than missing out and being someone you aren’t.  Because sometimes embarrassment is the cost of entry to an amazing adventure. The people actually enjoying life are allowing themselves to be excited, emotional, passionate, invested in joy. Existing like you’re too cool to care about anything is such a dull way to experience being alive. Sometimes the greatest things about life are the most embarrassing! They offer things that no other moment can.  And many times we look back and realize that those moments were the funniest, most exciting, most joy – filled moments in our lives. So stop overthinking it and wear the bathing suit to the beach and swim with your kids or grandkids, dance even when people are watching, play the game at the party, try something new!  Hopefully you will realize how rarely people actually care about what you do.
