Expand Your Options

Morning Mantra: “Until you know your options you will continue to feel stuck.”  When you only see one possible path forward, you limit your chance of success. Rather than complaining about the situation, or worrying about possible failure, give yourself more options. Take inventory and ask yourself what options do you currently have? Then consider, what new options could you develop? Are there other ways to get to your goal?  Ask your friends, your family or a trusted mentor to help you find more ways. Options give you independence, they give you the power of choice. Options provide you with multiple ways to respond to difficulty or the feeling of not knowing. Choose Your Own Headlines

Morning Mantra: “Everyone has inside them a piece of good news.”   If we depend on the printed headline for our view of the world it can be quite upsetting and discouraging.  There is a saying in the media, “If it bleeds it leads.” And when you read the news it’s easy to see that they believe this. I’d rather not let them tell me how to view the world, how people are treating each other, and what the future of humanity is.  Today I will write my own headlines from my own life: Husband cherishes wife. Mother weeps at the birth of her beautiful child. Teenager teaches younger brother to play the guitar. Entire community cleans up playground. 96 year old gets taken care of and adored by daughter. Dog reunited with owners. Find the good news and let it fill your headlines. Let your worries about the state of our world float away on the promise that life is good, people are amazing, and everything will be okay. Committed to Your Goals

Morning Mantra: "Be more committed to your goals than you are to your excuses."   If you really want something, you will make it happen instead of making excuses for why it won't.  It all starts with your mindset.  This is big for me. If I don't set my mind to it, I will quit. You have to be ready to do the hard work that it takes. You might start the process but you won't finish unless you are truly committed. We quit because we THINK it's easier. But living with the knowledge that we quit can be just as hard. We quit because we get fixated on having it be done, or reached in a certain way.  Guess what, you can commit to your goal AND be flexible about your journey.
