episode #4-25 Jesus Explains “The Law”, part 1 artwork
#4-25 Jesus Explains “The Law”, part 1

What Happens In This Episode This Jesus Story episode continues our look at the Sermon on the Mount. We move from the Beatitudes to woes – the opposite of blessings – for those who are not seeking and submitting to Jehovah. Jesus then considers the character of his followers as salt and light and addresses what may have been some misconceptions about his teaching raised by the religious leaders of the day. He contrasts the teachings of the law with the teaching of those religious leaders, specifically addressing six teachings. We talk about the first two of those teachings. Scriptures Referenced in This Podcast Luke 6:24-26 Matthew 5:13-28 2 Corinthians 3:18. See also Ephesians 5:6-7 and Philippians 2:15 We’re on Social Media! #4-24 The Beatitudes

What happens in this episode? In this Jesus Stories episode, we delve deeper into the Beatitudes Jesus proclaimed as he started the Sermon on the Mount. Far from being a prescription for you and me to live, the Beatitudes are an invitation for everyone to be a part of the Kingdom of Heaven. I explain this interpretation from the book, The Divine Conspiracy, Rediscovering Our Hidden Life in God by Dallas Willard. Scriptures used in this episode Matthew 5:3-12 Luke 6:24-26 Matthew 4:17, 23-25 Matthew 5:7 (The Message) John 16:2 Luke 6:24-26 Isaiah 61:1-2; Luke 4:18-19 John 3:5 Other references used in this episode include: The Divine Conspiracy, Rediscovering Our Hidden Life in God, by Dallas Willard Jesus Stories, Episode #4-11, “A Nighttime Chat” Jesus Stories, Episode #4-12, “You Must Be Born Again” We’re on Social Media Facebook Instagram Twitter/X You Tube Unless otherwise indicated, all Scripture quotations are taken from the Holy Bible, New Living Translation, copyright © 1996, 2004, 2015 by Tyndale House Foundation. #4_21 – Healing & Teaching

WHAT HAPPENS IN THIS EPISODE? This episode of Jesus Stories will complete the confrontation between Jesus and the religious leaders of the day; including the proof that Jesus presents for his identity. He makes these leaders even madder when his disciples “harvest” grain and eat it on the Sabbath and he heals a man in the synagogue on the Sabbath. Finally, he leaves the city and goes out to the Sea Galilee only to be met with a crowd of people needing healing and exorcisms.  All of this fulfills prophecy told 600 years before by Isaiah. I promised a map for you to reference! Here it is!
