21 episodiosIn Romans 12:1&2, Paul said we Christians need to renew our mind, in others words we need to change the way we think, why? Francis Schaeffer explains it like this and I quote. “People are unique in the inner life of the mind–what they are in their thought world determines how they act. This is true of their value systems and it is true of their creativity. It is true of their corporate actions, such as political decisions, and it is true of their personal lives. The results of their thought world flow through their fingers or from their tongues into the external world. This is true of Michelangelo’s chisel, and it is true of a dictator’s sword. People have presuppositions, and they will live more consistently on the basis of these presuppositions than even they themselves may realize. By presuppositions we mean the basic way an individual looks at life, his basic world view, the grid through which he sees the world. Presuppositions rest upon that which a person considers to be the truth of what exists. People’s presuppositions lay a grid for all they bring forth into the external world. Their presuppositions also provide the basis for their values and therefore the basis for their decisions.” How Should We Then Live; Francis A. Someone said that “nothing is free in this life,” how true that is. When you stop and think about it, neither is salvation. Our salvation cost God his son, it cost Jesus his life and the loss of fellowship with the God Head. (Matthew 27:46 & John 17:5), People think that God is not aware of their pain, that he doesn’t understand their circumstances and is indifferent to their plight. I strongly disagree with that view. When Jesus prayed in the garden of Gethsemane it was not to change his Father’s mind but to let all humanity know that the Godhead was in pain and that man could only be redeemed by His death . Jesus’ coming crucifixion was the reason for the anguish being felt by heaven that night. (Matthew 26: 38-39) My friend, think about it for moment, for the first time the Godhead would be separated, Jesus would become the very thing God loathe (sin), Jesus was about to take our sin upon himself. Jesus was about to die, with the full breadth and depth of that experience. I’m convinced that if the Father had reneged on his agreement to raise Jesus from the dead (Colossians 1:18), he would be in hell today. Psalm 16:10; Acts 2:27 & Acts 13:35. His death was authentic and so was his suffering. He sorrowed mentally, he suffered physically, he died spiritually. So the next time the dogs of life attack your world don’t let that little voice tell you, God doesn’t care, God doesn’t understand. Have you ever asked yourself why Jesus had to be born, why God used just the woman and not the woman and the man to bring about Jesus’ birth, (the virgin birth). Why is it that Jesus could not just show up on earth as a full-grown man, perform his miracles, preach the gospel, die on the cross, get up on the third day and go back to heaven? Well the truth is that the bible does explain this to us, so let’s began with the bases. There are those today that are saying, the Old Testament is of no value to the Christian and is not for the us today therefore throw the it away. Then there are those that would have us try and live it. The truth is both ideas are wrong. As Christian we are not required to live it but there are truths and principles that can be extrapolated from it that will be beneficial to our Christian growth, therefore we must not throw it away. That said, I want to start in the Old Testament because the Temple Worship and many of the civil laws pointed toward Christ. Christians usually think of salvation in terms of going to heaven but through salvation God has done so much more for us. In this sermon, brother Abe discusses one of the many benefits of being a child of God.
