Marbella Irish Quiz and San Pedro Restaurants

Welcome to the latest edition of the Marbella lifestyle podcast, Marbella with Him & Her, sponsored by the Hogan Stand Irish Pub in San Pedro, presented by husband and wife duo PJ Lopez @pjlopez1marbella and Hannah Murray @radiohannah. Each week they bring you the latest Marbella news as well as details of their busy social lives in and around Marbella on the Costa del Sol. In this episode they start with a shout out to all the mothers for Mother’s Day and take a moment to remember their late mothers. Hannah has become somewhat of a Pilates 'Hoar' (her words) as she tries out yet another Pilates Studio in San Pedro called Studio 34 (@studiothirtyfourpilates) which is a new comer to the Marbella wellness scene bringing their reformer studio to the area. They already have studios in Alderley Edge and Altrincham. Listen to see how she got on. Hannah continued her fitness regime at Body Combat in the Supera Gym in San Pedro on Tuesday and Zumba on Friday where she bumped into a listener of the podcast at the class, which is always lovely. During the week it was the performance of the poetry evening and play reading of Very Busy Lives at Havana 65 which went down very well with the audience. Some interviews of note during the week on her radio show included Sean Wooley of Cloud Nine Spain about his real estate book Home Truths. She also interviewed Emma Kirk Obunubi about her interesting book Find Your Pace, which was all about running and not needing to do it at a fast pace. She also spoke with one of the Sisterhood ladies, Clare O'Reilly about Row with the Flow, where she and two other ladies rowed across the Atlantic Ocean. Another great chat she had was with Hollywood legend Stephanie Powers, about her charity wildlife foundation that she set up and ran with her late partner and former actor William Holden. Thursday's Hogan Stand Quiz was actually the St Patrick's Day Irish quiz, which was won again for a 5th year in a row by The Defending Paddies. PJ and Hannah were out in the garden at the weekend getting it set for Spring with a big tidy up, creating 13 bags of rubbish. That night they were invited to a new restaurant in San Pedro called Killa, which is an Italian and Spanish fusion restaurant. Listen to find out what they thought and what they had to eat! They also chat about PJ's failed prank, betting on Cheltenham, Botox bee venom and Guayaba Beach. Some news articles from their collaborators the Euro Weekly News this week included Bottled gas prices, electricity price rises, NASA spotting a Saharan dust cloud and Spain's wettest winter in 47 years.

On the Radio...in Marbella

Marbella with Him & Her start with an apology as the podcast was delayed the previous week due to a technical issue with the podcast distributor. It was fixed but many listeners did not get it until late Monday evening. Below is a summary of this week's Marbella with Him & Her brought to you by the Hogan Stand and presented by PJ Lopez (@pjlopez1marbella) and Hannah Murray (@radiohannah). PJ starts by wishing Hannah a happy International Women's Day! Hannah goes on to talk about their busy schedule which included the final rehearsals for the play she is in with her father and Sheila that will take place on Wednesday 11th March at Havana 65 in San Pedro. They will have also started rehearsals for the main production by International Theatre Studio taking place in May called Ladies Day. Auditions took place on Saturday, and they have both been cast. Some highlights of Hannah's interviews during the week on her radio show included one with Hannah Cox who is part of The Sisterhood. It was about Project Salt Run where she ran 100 marathons in 100 days across India to raise money for various charities. She also interviewed Steve Starkey who was the producer of one of Hannah's favourite films, Forrest Gump. He shared some amazing stories about the filming and some interesting information from behind the scenes, much of which is in his book 'On the set of Forest Gump' Another interview was with Victoria who was on the most recent series of Below Deck Mediterranean. While she was filming it was the one year anniversary of the death of her boyfriend, which also happened to be on her birthday. She shares some lovely stories about coping with grief. Hannah did a talk to some students at the school where their friend Aoife works called the Brave Generation Academy. She spoke about her journey as a radio presenter and then opened the floor to questions where she was taken aback by the excellent questions many of them asked. Friday, they enjoyed a very impromptu evening with Aoife and Meadhbh who had messaged to say they were having the Indonesian meatballs at La Kasita Tapas in San Pedro. Hannah was the only one that had not had them, so it resulted in PJ and Hannah joining them for the rest of the evening. Saturday morning, despite a late night beforehand, Hannah still managed to get up and do the rooftop Pilates session at Alegre Studios in Puerto Banus which was a CBD inspired session hosted by Lenny and Claire. Saturday evening they went to dinner with friends Ross and Amy which ended with them playing the fun game called the Sound Game, with the kids as well. This week's articles from their collaborators the Euro Weekly News included storm Regina still hanging around, the cheapest homes in Spain, cheap train travel with Ouigo, Mercadona's price cuts and fuel price increases. They also watched the film I Swear, and spoke about the impact it had on them

Marbella Dance Moves, and Ballet in Estepona

Here is a summary of this week's Marbella with Him & Her podcast brought to you by PJ Lopez (@pjlopez1marbella) and Hannah Murray (@radiohannah) and sponsored by the friendliest bar in town, The Hogan Stand (@thehoganstand). They start the episode by chatting about their first weekend back from the UK and helping their friends Aoife and Meadhbh move to their new apartment on the beachfront of San Pedro. They also chat about the viral social media sensation around Punch the baby monkey, and a post PJ put up on the San Pedro Guide  (@sanpedromarbellaguide). It received a negative comment from a 'keyboard warrior' who totally missed the light-hearted aspect of the post. But it did lead them into chatting about animal cruelty in general and the donkey's plight in Mijas. Hannah speaks about some of the interviews she did on her radio show during the week, which included one with Zack Rogow called the Kama Sutra for Senior Citizens...and other poems on ageing.  She also interviewed King Moore, a 10 year old singer/rapper who would like the world to be a better place by bringing people together through music. PJ reveals that he is considering joining tinder to get some content to speak about on the podcast...Did Hannah agree? During the week PJ managed to get to the new Lidl to buy a couple of pizzas for the pizza party at the office. He took in his new pizza oven and everyone in the office bought in a pizza. They chat about the film I Swear which is about someone with Tourette's syndrome and how the involuntary ticks often mean he says very inappropriate things. At the BAFTAs the man who actually has Tourette's said something inappropriate on the mic. People were offended, so they chat about the irony of the film winning awards for highlighting the plight, yet people still got offended. Hannah's keep fit mission continued with Zumba, and Pilates at ICONS. On Friday evening Hannah went to the ballet to see Swan Lake in Estepona with friends. Hear what she had to say about it. At the weekend it was the Urban Chai quiz followed by a surprise 75th birthday party for friend Sandra. Hannah was up on the dance floor when singer Paul Hull did a rendition of Relight my Fire. PJ gets Hannah to say Coca Cola two different ways. You will have to listen to hear what this is about, but it was very funny. This week's articles from collaborators The Euro Weekly News (@euroweeklynews) include coffee prices in Europe. Listen to see where Spain ranks. There was an article about the 8th March being International Women's Day with a local event by Costa Women taking place hosted by Georgina Shaw. They also talk about a shop in Madrid that paid €300 for someone to sleep in their shop window for a siesta.

"It is awfully fly for a white boy...in Marbella!!"

Welcome to the latest episode of Marbella with Him & Her, fresh from their brief UK trip, presented as always by husband and wife duo PJ Lopez (@pjlopez1marbella) and Hannah Murray (@radiohannah). In this bumper episode they speak about the progress they are making with their rescue cat Poppy who is getting more affectionate and trusting. PJ speaks about a dream he had about Poppy and their previous cat Nelly, which also bizarrely included Hannah’s work colleague Giles Brown! Hannah continues her fitness quest by trying out a new Pilates studio in San Pedro with Nicole King. Listen to see how they got on. That same evening Hannah was booked in to Club Fit Estepona which was a dance fitness class complete with glow sticks. Listen to see why nonstop jumping is not safe for some women! Podcast listener and Hogan Stand quizzer Matt got in touch to voice the fact that he thought it was 'outrageous' that PJ did not remember the Scatman John hit! Hannah shares some highlights from interviews she did for her radio show which included one with Jamie Hailstone who tells the story about how much Chris Rea hated the song Driving Home for Christmas. She also interviewed Rowan McCabe about his door-to-door poetry. Another interesting interview was with Kathy Slack and her book Rough Patch which explains her journey from a corporate career in the City to gardening. It made Hannah feel a little better about killing the tomato plant they had when she explained that they are the hardest plants to keep alive. Another interview was with Carla Ciccone about ADHD in women and how it manifests in a different way to boys. They speak at length about their trip to the UK for PJ's stepfather’s 80th birthday and the different food they had while there. There is also a comical moment from the pilot of the flight and his reference to Little Britain. Hannah tries to explain her early morning glass of Cava away likening it to comedian and podcaster Joanne McNally and her 'Space Gin' which is drinking in mid-air and does not have the same rules as drinking on the ground. But PJ reminds Hannah she WAS on the ground! There is some laughter about PJ and his line 'It is Awfully Fly For A White Boy'. They also discuss the terrible potholes that are on every road in the UK and how much worse they are than Spain. After speaking about Leann Rhimes suggestion that the key to a successful marriage is to argue naked, they go on to speak about the new Lidl which has opened in San Pedro, and the upcoming rehearsed play reading and poetry night at a new venue for International Theatre Studio, Havana 65 in San Pedro. The night is called Cocktails & Entertainment. PJ brings up the viral social media stir around Punch the baby monkey that was rejected by his mother and bullied by the other monkeys. But there is some good news! Euro Weekly News articles this week include plans for Spain to put ID on mobile phones, Spain being considered for the construction of a Moon Resort Project, and an article which includes the link to request compensation for car damage due to potholes. They end with a quick catch up about the Winter Olympics and some of the more controversial moments.

Galentine's and Valentine's in Marbella

After last week's milestone episode, we are pleased to welcome you to episode 101 of the Marbella with Him & Her weekly podcast brought to you by the husband and wife team PJ Lopez (@pjlopez1marbella) and Hannah Murray (@radiohannah). They start off with Hannah telling their listeners about the Valentine's message that PJ sent to Nicole to read out during their recording of the latest Good Morning Spain (@goodmorningspaintv) English breakfast show that goes out on regional Spanish TV each week. On Thursday morning Hannah went for a personal training session with Costa del Sol personal trainer Scott Roberts (@scottreviveandthrive and @aloha-fitnessstudio). Hannah speaks about his sensitivity to women that have had children and the plans he designs for them to address weight and strength issues. Hannah was put through her paces even though she has great triceps (apparently)! This week's Hogan Stand quiz was the Valentine's themed one where all questions related to love or romance in some way. PJ's team managed to come second, despite their very bad start. Hannah's weekly catch up with her dad was at Hustle n Flow on Friday, after which Hannah headed off to the Marbella Beauty Academy for a €10 facial. Find out how it went on the podcast. Also, on Friday they were both interviewed by Adam Woodward of The Euro Weekly News (@euroweeklynews) about the podcast and reaching 100 episodes. Be sure to check out next week's paper for the full article. Later that evening Hannah joined Meadhbh and Aoife for a Galentine's get together starting off at the Hogan Stand (@thehoganstand) for Happy Hour and then on to La Tizona for wine and cheese. Meanwhile PJ had met up with work colleagues Joshua and Ysa for a Palentine's night out in San Pedro, starting off at La Fria for tapas and then on to Bar Guerra (@bar_guerra). After that they headed to Havana 65 for cocktails (@havana65sanpedro) where they were spotted by what was now 5 girls on the Galentine's night out. Listen to the chaos that ensued! The weekend was very chilled, and they enjoyed some pie and mash. The pies were from the Pie Shop Estepona and PJ made some buttery mash to accompany them. This week's Euro weekly News articles included the story of an American buying an entire Spanish village on the border of Spain and Portugal for €310,000, the terrible state of the roads that is now considered a crisis and the damp issues do many homes are encountering due to the constant rain over the last few weeks. They also discuss Bad Bunny at the Superbowl, Chinese New Year and give a shout out to a listener called David from Germany who got in touch after last week's podcast and enjoys hearing about San Pedro as he and his family have been regular visitors for the last 25 years. Just another huge thank you to all of you for making Marbella with Him & Her the number one lifestyle podcast in Marbella and for sticking with us and helping us get to over 100 episodes!!
