In this episode, I take a moment to acknowledge the passing of Sebastião Salgado - a photographer whose work documented mankind's destruction of our planet. Those of you familiar with Sebastião’s photography will already know that he specialised in humanitarian documentary photojournalism. You may not be aware however that he was incredibly active in conservation in Brazil and that he was responsible for the replantation of millions of trees and the reconstruction of an entire ecosystem. Perhaps his most well known book ‘Workers: An Archaeology of the Industrial Age [http://www.amazon.com/Sebasti%C3%A3o-Salgado-Workers-Archaeology-Industrial/dp/089381525X]‘ should be required reading for every photographer. This short video in which Sebastião discusses his career and his photography is well worth fifteen minutes of your time. It is a remarkable insight into a truly remarkable photographer. Watch the video here: VIDEO [https://www.ted.com/talks/sebastiao_salgado_the_silent_drama_of_photography] Also in this episode, discuss my upcoming back-to-back trips for the Atlantic Puffin in Iceland as well as the 18-day expedition to Svalbard for Polar Bears in the pack ice. These three trips present some unique equipment challenges making packing a difficult compromise. 2025 Zimanga South Africa Trip Report [https://blog.jholko.com/2025/05/22/zululand-south-africa-wildlife-masterclass-workshop-report-2025/] Support the show [https://www.buymeacoffee.com/JoshuaHolko] Wild Nature Photo Travel Photography Workshops and Expeditions around the World www.wildnaturephototravel.com [http://www.jholko.com] Support the Show and fellow Nature Photographer: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/JoshuaHolko/membership [https://www.buymeacoffee.com/JoshuaHolko/membership] Find us on Social Media Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Joshuaholko/ [https://www.facebook.com/Joshuaholko/] Twitter: https://twitter.com/HolkoJoshua [https://twitter.com/HolkoJoshua] Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/joshuaholko/ [https://www.instagram.com/joshuaholko/] Need to Contact us? info@jholko.com [info@jholko.com]

In this episode, I discuss my latest lens acquisition as well as Canon's 100-300mm f2.8L lens and the much rumoured 200-500 and 300-600mm telephoto zoom lenses. Also on the agenda is the date announcement for my 2027 South Africa wildlife masterclass; which will back-to-back with my Namibia Dune Sea Landscape workshop. Lastly, I also discuss the investigation findings of the Svalbard Governors office on the Polar Bear harassment incident and the lack of transparency from their office (documented and discussed HERE [https://blog.jholko.com/2025/04/26/wnpp-episode-121-the-polar-bear-incident-and-the-norwegian-polar-institute/]). 2027 Zimanga Wildlife Masterclass Workshop [http://www.jholko.com/workshops] Support the show [https://www.buymeacoffee.com/JoshuaHolko] Wild Nature Photo Travel Photography Workshops and Expeditions around the World www.wildnaturephototravel.com [http://www.jholko.com] Support the Show and fellow Nature Photographer: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/JoshuaHolko/membership [https://www.buymeacoffee.com/JoshuaHolko/membership] Find us on Social Media Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Joshuaholko/ [https://www.facebook.com/Joshuaholko/] Twitter: https://twitter.com/HolkoJoshua [https://twitter.com/HolkoJoshua] Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/joshuaholko/ [https://www.instagram.com/joshuaholko/] Need to Contact us? info@jholko.com [info@jholko.com]
