A Shamanic Experience invites you to travel beyond maps and into the spirit of place. I'm Katie Weatherup, a shamanic practitioner and solo traveler. If you believe the wind can whisper secrets, rivers carry wisdom, and mountains hold ancient memory, you're in the right place. In each episode, we'll explore the energies, guardians, and healing gifts of lands both far away and close to home, as well as the logistics of getting there and back again with practical travel tips. Whether you're traveling in person or journeying vicariously from your favorite chair, I hope this podcast helps you discover how to connect with land magic both at home and in your travels. May your journeys—whether physical or spiritual—be easeful, magical, and deeply nourishing. Come wander with me into landscapes seen and unseen, and uncover how the Earth speaks to your soul.

008- A Threshold of the Sacred: Meeting an Ancient Sequoia in Nelder Grove

Of all the trees I've met in my travels, my favorite lives in Nelder Grove, just south of Yosemite: an ancient giant sequoia estimated to be around 2,700 years old. In this episode, I share what it felt like to cross an energetic threshold long before I even reached the tree—like stepping into a cathedral where the air itself changes—and how my guides used the presence of this sequoia (and one of its "brethren") to teach me a powerful antidote to codependency. This is an episode about energetic sensitivity as an additional sense, the gift of solitude with the land, and a simple but profound model: be fully part of the ecosystem, while staying deeply in your own life force. In this episode, I talk about: * Why this particular sequoia became a touchstone I wanted to keep close (including printing a photo to connect with its energy) * The felt "threshold moment" when the forest shifts into something charged with the sacred * Why quiet matters for sensitive people—and how solitude changes what becomes possible with land and spirit * The guides' teaching: a living model for boundaries, overgiving, and staying in your lane * How a sequoia can be completely interconnected and supportive without leaving itself * Fire, drought, time, and resilience—what long-lived beings can teach us about presence * A grounding reminder for sensitive people: roots matter as much as branches * A practice you can do anywhere: finding a tree that wants to talk to you, and listening for its medicine * Why I'm not naming the specific tree: the tree that has the magic for you may be different A simple practice (if you want to try it): Next time you're around trees, walk slowly and let one "choose you." Stand with it. Breathe. Place a hand on your heart or belly. Ask: "What do you want me to know?" or "What is your medicine for me today?" Then listen with your body, not just your mind. 007- Stonehenge at Dawn: Inside the Circle

I've visited Stonehenge four times, and three of those visits included one of the most exquisite experiences I've ever had: being inside the Stonehenge circle at dawn. In this episode, I share what it felt like to be there in the mist and quiet, why that kind of access is such a gift for the energetically sensitive, and how you can connect with Stonehenge yourself—whether you visit in person, journey there in shamanic reality, or simply tune in through voice, image, and intention. Here's the link for the Stonehenge Circle Experience which allows you to go inside: https://www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/places/stonehenge/things-to-do/stone-circle-access-visits/ [https://www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/places/stonehenge/things-to-do/stone-circle-access-visits/] In this episode, I talk about: * The difference between "outside the ropes" Stonehenge and being inside the circle at dawn * Why energetic sensitivity can feel like an extra sense—and the tradeoffs that come with it * The hidden cost of loud, chaotic environments (airports, grocery stores) and why good energetic tools matter * What changes when the human "psychic noise" drops and you can actually feel the land * The layered power of Stonehenge: stones, land, alignment, human intent, and time * The blue stones and the Wales connection, and why "objective truth" is not always the point in shamanic work * A practical invitation: ways to connect remotely and receive what's right for you * A note for shamanic practitioners: why Stonehenge is a Middle World journey and how to approach it with care * The energetic transmission I offered from the center of Stonehenge—and how "no time in shamanic reality" works as an ongoing invitation Experiential invitation (simple and potent): As you listen, let yourself receive this in the layer that feels right today: * The story and imagery * The felt sense of the place * The vibrational transmission carried through voice and intention If you're called to connect more directly, you can also sit quietly, place a hand on your heart, and invite, "Let me receive the Stonehenge medicine that is right and good for me." About this podcast A Shamanic Experience In… is where I share sacred travel, power places, and the living presence of land—through the lens of shamanic practice and energetic sensitivity. 006- Energetic Transmissions in the British Museum: A Shamanic Traveler's Story

In this episode, I share a shamanic traveler's experience of the British Museum — sitting with sacred objects of power, navigating the colonial complexity, and noticing how intensely a place like this can light up an energetically sensitive system. The British Museum is an extraordinary and complicated place — a building filled with sacred objects and beautiful artifacts, many of which were taken from colonized cultures without consent. In this episode, I hold that complexity while also sharing the very real energetic richness of being in the presence of so many power objects in one place. I talk about what it was like to move through room after room of potent statues, ceremonial objects, and archetypal presences, and how my dreams spent weeks unpacking the transmissions afterward. I also explore how our past lives, magical traditions, and personal archetypal relationships shape which pieces "light up" for us, and why two people can walk through the same gallery and have completely different experiences. Along the way, I offer some gentle practical guidance for energetic sensitives on how to pace yourself in places filled with sacred objects, and how to honor both your ethics and your lived experience of magic. 005- A Shamanic Experience at Rosslyn Chapel: Green Men, Mystery, and Discernment

I toured Rosslyn Chapel, famous from The Da Vinci Code and beloved by many in my community. The ley lines are strong. The carvings are wild and beautiful, especially the many Green Man faces. Yet it wasn't my spot. Later on the trip, Glastonbury and the Chalice Well felt like home. This contrast taught me a lot about energetic affinity. Why it matters A site can be powerful and still not be your medicine. Travel gets easier and richer when we trust our direct felt sense. Recommendations are useful, yet your own alignment is the compass that counts. Highlights * Power vs. affinity: respecting a place even when it is not for you * Green Man carvings and nature motifs inside a Christian chapel * Using comparisons to learn your preferences, like Glastonbury vs. Rosslyn * Building a personal map of places that nourish you Practical tips * Do a quick check in your body before planning long visits or ceremonies * If a friend's taste aligns with yours, weight their recs more heavily * Allow spacious timing so you can leave early or linger as needed * Pair busy sites with nearby nature where you can recalibrate Invitation Trust your senses. Let yourself love what loves you back. Your shamanic experience is one true layer. Someone else may meet a different one. Want more shamanic podcast content? 004- A Shamanic Experience in Peru (Part 2): Machu Picchu, Moon Temple, and Wise Choices

What I explore Two Peru trips became anchor memories for me. In this follow-up I focus on practical navigation: how guides and drivers work, why some stops are curated for commissions, and how to choose sites that let you drop in. I share my favorite quiet moments at Machu Picchu and why the Temple of the Moon near Cusco is worth the detour. Why it matters The Andes are generous. Discernment lets you receive that generosity without unnecessary entanglements. I offer clear frames for shopping glamours, ceremony containers, and plant-medicine tourism so you can stay centered, protected, and open. Highlights * Temple of the Moon for spacious energy and fewer crowds * Late-afternoon Machu Picchu from the agricultural terraces for stillness * The Sun Gate hike as an initiation into meeting discomfort with grace * Understanding tour kickbacks so you can choose aligned stops Practical tips * Altitude and weather shift fast. Hydrate, carry layers, pace yourself. * Bug spray is your friend in Aguas Calientes and river areas. * Lodging can be unheated at altitude. Confirm heat before you book. * Use vetted transport in cities. Ask your hotel for current guidance. * Share your route with your group. Sacred awe stretches clocks. Energy hygiene and discernment * Choose practitioners with integrity and small groups for any ceremony. * If something feels glamoured, step away and check again later. * Plant-medicine tourism can open vulnerability. Strong container or skip. * Walk with protection. Decline energetic engagement that is not yours. Want more shamanic podcast content? Check out my "Practical Shamanism Podcast".
