While researching the earliest history of cinema and intellectual property as a Kluge Fellow in 2022, Dr. Claudy Op den Kamp discovered the identity of the first motion picture copyright registration ever made, in 1893 by Thomas Edison’s head photographer William Dickson. Claudy is Principal Academic in Film, and faculty member at the Centre for Intellectual Property Policy & Management. During the 2022 Spring semester, she was a Kluge Fellow at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC. She is a 2023 Fellow at the Lemelson Center for the Study of Invention and Innovation, Smithsonian Institution National Museum of American History. She holds a PhD (Art & Media) from the University of Plymouth on the relationship between copyright ownership, access to archival film, and film historiography. She is a graduate of the University of Amsterdam (Film & Television Studies) and the University of East Anglia (Film Archiving).

As a senior lecturer at the Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUAs), he has taught film and TV production since 2009 and obtained full tenure since 2012. His specialism lies in documentary filmmaking and impact producing. Productions include “A Safe Haven,” a short documentary about refugee children in the Netherlands, and “God, Church, Pills & Condoms,” a film exploring teenage pregnancies in the Philippines. His documentary “The Old Normal is Killing Us” premiered at the 2021 Australian GBIENNALE GECO21 International Festival.

Carol also represents the BU Allied Health Professionals (AHP) on the Dorset Integrated Care Services AHP Council and is the senate representative on the Bournemouth University Board. She has presented her work nationally and internationally has received funding in research and education for undertaking and disseminating research.

Professor Sarah Bate is the lead researcher in the Centre for Face Processing Disorders at Bournemouth University, and is the author of the book 'Face Recognition and its Disorders' (Palgrave-Macmillan). Her current work examines the nature of face-processing impairments in adults and children with developmental or acquired forms of prosopagnosia (face blindness). Much of Sarah's existing research has used eye-movement technology to inform this issue. In addition to providing theoretical insights into the nature of prosopagnosia and its potential sub-classification, this work is aiding the development of potential remediation techniques that may be useful in a variety of acquired and neurodevelopmental disorders characterized by face-processing impairments.
