Welcome back to another episode of from dropout to J.D.! Meet Jacob Files! Jacob is a senior at the University of Texas at Austin. Jacob studies government and business, but has a particular interest in equities, personal finance, and real estate. As a first-generation college student from a home-schooling family of seven, the road to getting an education has been difficult from the beginning, but Jacob credits the love, encouragement, and commitment to the Christian faith of his family and his lovely wife, Rebekah, for enabling his pursuits. On the side, Jacob has many hobbies that he stubbornly attempts to juggle in addition to his many responsibilities. Between professional Disc golf tournaments, powerlifting, stock trading, and visiting family, Jacob keeps himself quite busy. He claims that he "must maintain a base-line level of stress at all times or he feels useless." Jacob plans to apply for the law school class of 2026 (matriculation fall 2023) and has his sights set on a top 20 school. He hopes to get an amazing legal education that will enable him to pursue a legal career in Texas in real estate or securities.
