Episode 17: Episode 17: Black Mountain Kickstart - Worship, Proclamation, & Thanksgiving AND Tongues
Episode 8 of our Black Mountain Kickstart is a practical training, first about Worship, Proclamation, & Thanksgiving, and then about Tongues. These tools are given as a way of enhancing your communion with The God of Abraham, Isaac, & Jacob. A lot of modern worship is centered upon us--man--and NOT God Himself and the majesty of who He IS! The result is that we sing about the human experience and our struggles, or where we've been and what we were before. All this self-focus and sin-consciousness does NOT produce the Righteousness of God or Faith. In this episode, we teach you how to edify yourself by connecting deeply with HIM! And we utilize worship centered on the person, character, nature, and majesty of God HIMSELF (just as we often see in the Psalms). We use the power of proclamation--not "name it and claim it" nonsense, but rather aligning ourselves with WHO God is, WHO we are as His Image-bearers, and what His Word says about us and our circumstances.
Thanksgiving is a powerful discipline that enables us to ascend above the storm clouds of our present circumstances where we can once again see God and have our eyes opened to what He's doing. He promises in Romans 8 to work all things together for good. Yet when things are not going "good", don't feel "good", or don't look "good", we can easily lose sight of The Truth. Disciplining our mouths to "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks" takes time and intentionality. But 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 says this is the will of God in Messiah Yeshua. After listening to this episode, you'll have some practical tools and examples of how to activate this powerful, life-changing discipline that all early disciples received.
Finally, the episode is rounded out with a quick overview of what the Bible actually says regarding Tongues (and Interpretation). Listen as we go through 1 Corinthians 13 and 14 and hear what Paul actually wrote in context and discover whether this controversial Gift of the Spirit is held in a 'positive light' or a 'negative light' by the authors of Scripture. Hear the 3 types of Tongues that are described in those Scriptures and their very practical application. And apply your Faith to The Word of God in order to reap the benefits of Tongues in your personal life, in your local gathering with other Disciples of Yeshua, and in your ministry to the Lost.
(This episode was the final teaching before we did some practical, hands-on training and then hit the streets for an outreach time. We closed the Training Weekend with baptisms in water (mikveh), receiving the Holy Spirit, along with the Family of Faith praying for and prophesying over those baptized, and then some Disciple Making Movement Vision-Casting, which are not recorded and posted here.
