episode The Kingdom Come to Athens - Part 2 | Acts 17:16-34 artwork
The Kingdom Come to Athens - Part 2 | Acts 17:16-34

Evangelists are needed in the public square - In this message from Acts 17:16-34, we explore Paul’s bold proclamation of the gospel in the public square, confronting a culture filled with idolatry and skepticism. Paul skillfully engages both religious and secular audiences, using partial truths they understood to introduce them to the fullness of the gospel, challenging their misconceptions about God. We’re reminded that evangelism requires boldness, conviction, and the willingness to correct false beliefs while proclaiming the Lordship of Christ. This sermon calls us to take the gospel into the world, knowing that God is near and that repentance is essential for all. This sermon was preached at Hope Fellowship on October 20, 2024 by Kyle Truman. We gather every Sunday at 10 a.m. in the gymnasium at Gatesville Elementary School in Gatesville N.C. The Kingdom Come to Athens - Part 1 | Acts 17:16-34

Evangelists are needed in the public square - In this passage Paul finds himself in Athens, a city full of idols, and is stirred to action. Rather than wait passively, he engages the people—Jews, devout individuals, and the general populace—reasoning with them in the marketplace. Paul’s message is clear: the God they do not know, the one they call “unknown,” is the Creator of all things, and He now commands all people to repent because a day of judgment is coming through Jesus Christ. Just as Paul boldly preached to a city of idol worshippers, Christians today are called to proclaim the gospel in a culture filled with its own modern idols, trusting God with the results. episode The Kingdom Comes to Thessalonica | Acts 17:1-9 artwork
The Kingdom Comes to Thessalonica | Acts 17:1-9

This sermon was preached at Hope Fellowship on September 29, 2024 by Kyle Truman. In this sermon, based on Acts 17:1-9, Paul and his team continue their mission, spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. The passage highlights Paul’s strategic approach of preaching in Jewish synagogues, reasoning with people from the Scriptures, and proving the necessity of Christ’s suffering and resurrection. Despite facing opposition, Paul’s message results in conversions among Jews, Greeks, and leading women. However, jealousy from the Jewish leaders stirs up a mob, leading to persecution. This message challenges believers today to boldly proclaim the gospel, face opposition, and resist societal pressures, including the modern-day idolatry of statism, which elevates government authority above God’s sovereignty. Ultimately, Jesus is the true King. We gather every Sunday at 10 a.m. in the gymnasium at Gatesville Elementary School in Gatesville N.C.  Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you.
