Elana’s Story: Navigating Life After Losing a Child to Impaired Driving

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2437350/fan_mail/new] Catch a Safe Ride. Choose Life. Never Drive Impaired. In this deeply emotional episode of InShock with Teresa Baglietto, Teresa sits down with Elana Korey’s mother to honor the life and legacy of her 20-year-old daughter. Elana was a beloved daughter, sister, college student, University of Arkansas Razorback, AOII sorority sister, athlete, and animal lover whose life was tragically cut short in 2024 as a passenger in a crash caused by an impaired and reckless driver. Elana’s mother shares the heartbreaking reality of losing a child, the grief that followed, and the long road of learning how to live after unimaginable loss. She also shares who Elana was beyond the tragedy — joyful, hardworking, loving, full of life, and deeply connected to her family, friends, and animals. Out of this loss came Ollie’s Angels Foundation, created in Elana’s memory to raise awareness about the deadly consequences of impaired driving and reckless driving, promote safe driving education, support animal shelters, and inspire a culture of accountability and compassion. This conversation is about grief, child loss, love, faith, community, safe driving, impaired driving prevention, reckless driving awareness, and the small “glimmers” of kindness that help carry a family through the darkest moments. Life's Curveballs: From Ultra Marathoner to Ultra Advocate

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2437350/fan_mail/new] In this episode of InShock, Teresa sits down with Lisa Tamati—New Zealand’s best-known ultramarathon runner, certified genetics practitioner, founder of Aevum Labs, and one of the most relentless advocates you’ll ever hear from. After completing 140 ultra marathons across some of the world’s harshest environments, including the Sahara, Gobi Desert, and Himalayas, Lisa’s life took an unexpected turn when her family’s genetic susceptibility to aneurysms forced her to redirect her extraordinary endurance away from racing and toward something even more personal—fighting for her family’s survival. Lisa shares her incredible journey from surviving brutal desert expeditions and extreme endurance races to becoming a fierce medical advocate for her mother after catastrophic health crises, challenging medical systems, exploring cutting-edge health solutions, and dedicating her life to longevity, resilience, and health optimization. This powerful conversation explores endurance, trauma, caregiving, genetics, advocacy, aging, and what it truly means to keep fighting when life demands everything you have. Life's Curveballs: Breast Cancer at 34 - From Diagnosis to Building a Community

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2437350/fan_mail/new] In this episode of InShock, Teresa Baglietto sits down with Laura Carfang, a breast cancer survivor whose life changed in an instant at just 34 years old. What started as a subtle physical change led to a diagnosis that forced her to confront fear, uncertainty, and the reality of navigating a life-threatening illness. Laura shares her raw and honest journey from advocating for herself to get answers, through chemotherapy, surgery, and recovery. But what makes her story so powerful is what came next. Instead of returning to life as it was, she turned her experience into purpose by creating SurvivingBreastCancer.org—a platform that now supports and connects people going through one of the hardest moments of their lives. This conversation goes beyond the diagnosis. It’s about resilience, trusting your intuition, finding strength in the unknown, and how life’s most difficult moments can shift your perspective in ways you never expected. If you or someone you love is navigating a cancer diagnosis, this episode is a reminder—you’re not alone, and there is hope on the other side.  Guest Contact Info: Laura Carfang - CEO SurvivingBreastCancer.org Website: https://www.survivingbreastcancer.org/ Podcast: Breast Cancer Conversations Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/survivingbreastcancerorg Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@SurvivingBreastCancer Thank you for tuning in!
