LTR - Ep 52 - Current Event: "TCEQ ETF" (Texas Commission of Environmental Quality - Environmental Trade Fair)

In this 52nd episode, I discuss a Current Event:  "TCEQ ETF" (Texas Commission of Environmental Quality - Environmental Trade Fair. The TCEQ ETF is the premier annual conference for all things Environmental. As the old saying goes, "Everything is Bigger in Texas," The TCEQ ETF is the largest environmental conference in The United States. The TCEQ ETF is always held in mid May and bounces around between Austin and San Antonio Texas.  The Conference is put on by The State of Texas' Environmental Regulatory Body; TCEQ.  The conference has both educational sessions and an exhibit hall. The educational sessions which provide continuing education credits, are all put on by The Staff of TCEQ and cover everything from Air, Land, Water, Licensing, Permitting, Compliance, Enforcement, Emergency Response and Remediation.  There are over 100 sessions available to choose from. The Exhibit Hall is massive and has everything from Environmental Contractors, to Environmental Consultants, to Suppliers of anything and everything that could be needed by anyone in The Environmental Industry. It's a two day event and unless you have been numerous times, you will definitely need the full two days, as you could spend two days in just the Exhibit Hall alone.  So if you are also attending sessions, you will need to carefully schedule out your time, to assure you are able to fully cover the Exhibit Hall.  In the Exhibit Hall, you will have discussions and network with both The Exhibiting Companies and The Attendees alike. LTR - Ep 51 - Current Event: "The New Chlorides Remediation Paradigm"

In this 51st episode, I discuss a Current Event:  "The New Chlorides Remediation Paradigm!" Chlorides are a big problem, particularly in The Oilfield.  Also known as Production Water, Produced Water, Brine Water and Salt Water, during the extraction of Crude Oil, this high salinity water is also extracted and most often is volumes 2-5 times the amount of Crude Oil. As such, it must be dealt with and most of the time it is re-injected back into a Saltwater Disposal Well (SDW).  Some times there is one on site, but most often there is not and it must got through a logistics process to get to one by trucking and/or railcar.  This may or may not also require temporary storage in tanks.  All of this creates the possibility for spills or releases.  When this happens, the Chlorides need to be remediated. LTR - Ep 50 - Best Practices for Field Soil Sampling

In this 50th episode, I discuss some "Best Practices for Field Soil Sampling." One of the most important considerations is to remember that Soil Contamination, is not always sitting on the surface as horizontal contamination.  The longer the contamination is in soil, the more gravity begins to work on it, causing migration or the traveling of the contamination vertically. Another important consideration, is the size of the area of concern, whereby, the larger the area, the more samples need to be taken, to get a good coverage of the area, to have a better understanding of not only the defined are of concern, but to also, identify the "hotspots," where the concentrations are highest.  By doing this up front, it allows for more of the focus to be on the areas of concern, rather than either focusing on the entire area including lower levels as well as, not missing the higher areas, by them being diluted out by the lower level areas. By doing a good job up front on the delineation; defining of the contaminated areas and identifying the hotspots, will put the focus where it should be, which will help in the economics of the project, saving both time and money. LTR - Ep 48 - The Goal of Environmental Site Assessments - Final Report and Closure

In this 48th episode, I discuss The Goal of Environmental Site Assessments.  Final Report and Closure. The Goal of performing Environmental Site Assessments is to generate a Final Report to be submitted to the necessary Regulatory bodies to obtain a Closure Report that indicated No Further Remediation is required. In order to obtain this, a final Report must be prepared and submitted to the necessary Regulatory Bodies.  This Final Report is a complete summary of everything regarding all Phase of Environmental Site Assessments that were performed that give the Regulatory Bodies all the information they need to issue this recommendation.  Total Disclosure of all activities is the best practice to be successful upon this submission.
