On the surface, it’s a high-octane escape thriller: clones in a utopian bunker dream of winning a lottery to go to “the Island,” the last uncontaminated paradise on Earth. But the truth is far uglier. The “winners” aren’t escaping to freedom—they’re being prepped for termination. Their bodies are spare parts for the rich sponsors who commissioned them. Organs on ice. Surrogate wombs. Living warranties against aging, disease, or accident.
