10. Overcoming Overwhelm - Part Three

Welcome to the third and final episode of my three part series on the common things I teach people who come to me to resolve problems with hypnosis. In this episode I’ll be talking about overcoming overwhelm. I often describe overwhelm as feeling like a ball in a pinball machine, just getting bounced around from thing to thing and not landing on anything for very long.  We’re overstimulated, trying to do too much, too fast and it can feel out of control.   The key to getting out of overwhelm is to focus on one thing at a time.  There are two ways that I teach my clients to train their brains to overcome that mind spinning overwhelm. The first is doing a body scan…putting your attention on your physical body is a great way to break the out-of-control thought loops and put your mind into a relaxed state.  It’s a little bit of distraction, and works really well and feels so good. The second thing I teach my clients is the Alpha Sequence.  This is one of my favorites and with practice you can train your brain to sink into these calm states faster and faster! When a person starts hypnosis to lose weight, the best way to deal with that is to deal with the emotion of food, and find out why a person is over eating. Generally overeating is a reaction to the stress and anxiety of a person's life. One of the ways to have a more nutritional and balanced diet is to eat like your grandparents did, cooking your own meals with whole ingredients and not eating processed foods.
