Rebuilt by Mercy | Exodus 34

This week’s message in Exodus 34 reminds us that God’s mercy does more than forgive failure. God's mercy actually rebuilds what’s been broken. After Israel’s rebellion with the golden calf, God meets His people again with compassion, grace, and covenant love, showing that their story was not over. Through Moses’ return up the mountain, we see a God who invites broken people back into relationship with Him, not because they’ve fixed themselves, but because He is merciful and faithful. As the chapter unfolds, God begins reshaping His people’s worship, rhythms, and lives around His presence. Ultimately, the story points us to Jesus, the One who perfectly reveals God’s glory, carries both mercy and justice at the cross, and invites us to come honestly with our failures and fears. What might it look like to stop hiding the broken places in life and instead take the next faithful step toward the compassionate and gracious God who is still rebuilding His people?

Do Not Send Us Without You | Exodus 33

In Exodus 33, we’re faced with a searching question: would the life we want still be enough if God wasn’t in it? Israel is offered blessing, provision, and a future, but without God’s presence. Their grief reveals what’s really at stake, and Moses gives voice to it. “If your presence does not go with us, do not send us.” It’s a gentle but honest reminder of how easily we can chase good things while drifting from the One who gives them. God’s response is full of grace. “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” That promise ultimately finds its fulfillment in Jesus, who brings us near to God. The invitation is simple. Turn back, let go of what’s competing for your heart, and choose His presence again. Where might you be holding onto the gifts, but missing the Giver?

When Waiting Exposes Us | Exodus 32

Exodus 32 shows how waiting can quietly unravel our trust. While Moses is on the mountain receiving instructions for God’s presence among His people, Israel grows impatient and turns to something they can see and control. Their idolatry doesn’t begin with outright rejection of God, but with fear, uncertainty, and the discomfort of waiting. In that space, they take a good gift, gold provided by God, and reshape it into a substitute for Him, revealing how easily our hearts drift when God feels distant. Yet even in their failure, God’s mercy makes a way. Moses intercedes, standing between a holy God and a sinful people, pointing forward to Jesus who is the greater mediator who fully bears our sin and restores what we’ve broken. The story exposes both the seriousness of idolatry and the depth of God’s grace. We are more prone to wander than we admit, but God is more faithful than we deserve. So the question becomes not just what we believe, but what we reach for when life feels uncertain. What are you trusting to carry you in the waiting?

episode Worship, Work, & Rest | Exodus 30-31 artwork

Worship, Work, & Rest | Exodus 30-31

In Exodus 30–31, God isn’t just freeing Israel from Egypt. He’s reshaping how they live. Their lives, once driven by pressure and production, are now being reordered around His presence through rhythms of worship, holiness, and daily awareness of Him. What may seem like small or detailed instructions actually reveal a God who wants to dwell with His people and re-center their lives on relationship, not performance. That reshaping touches both work and rest. Their labor is no longer exploitative but meaningful and Spirit-filled, and yet God still commands them to stop and rest.  He reminds them they are not slaves, but His. Ultimately, this points to Jesus, who brings us near and gives true rest. The question we’re left with is simple: are we still living by the exhausting rhythms of “Egypt,” or learning to live from the steady presence of God?
