Ep.000 | Messy Beginnings, Big Vision
We Pressed Record: The First Episode of the Capture & Connect Podcast
There’s something special about beginnings.
Not the polished ones — the messy ones.
The ones where the lighting isn’t quite right, you’re still figuring out the microphones, someone forgets to turn on a light mid-conversation, and you laugh through it instead of stopping the recording.
That’s exactly how our first episode of the Capture & Connect Podcast started.
And honestly?
We wouldn’t have it any other way.
Because Capture & Connect was never meant to be perfect.
It was meant to be real.
The Story Behind Capture & Connect
Capture & Connect started with a simple idea:
What if networking felt different?
What if it wasn’t just exchanging business cards and small talk in crowded rooms…but instead a space where entrepreneurs could create content, build relationships, and collaborate intentionally?
Last year here in Huntsville, Alabama, the three of us — Kenya Halliburton, Adrienne Selfe, and April Briggs — met at a Women’s Expo.
At the time, Adrienne had just opened Serenity Luxe Studio, a content creation studio designed to help entrepreneurs show up visually and confidently online.
Kenya was building Content CoLABs, a community designed to help creative and introverted entrepreneurs build their businesses through content and collaboration.
April was bringing her magic as a pose coach and confidence builder, helping people show up authentically on camera.
What we didn’t know then was that meeting would spark something bigger.
Conversations turned into ideas.
Ideas turned into workshops.
Workshops turned into Capture & Connect — a space where entrepreneurs could learn how to show up, create content, and build relationships that actually move their businesses forward.
Why We Started the Podcast
The Capture & Connect workshops quickly became something special.
Entrepreneurs came to create content. But they stayed for the community.
People opened up about the fears of leaving their 9-to-5.The pressure of building something from scratch. The excitement of launching a brand… and the vulnerability that comes with it.
We realized something important.
These conversations needed a bigger platform.
So we decided to press record.
The Capture & Connect Podcast is our way of expanding the table — bringing more entrepreneurs, creatives, and business leaders into the conversation.
Not just the big names you see everywhere…
But the everyday builders.
The ones quietly creating impact in their communities.
A Conversation About the Journey
In this first episode, we kept things simple.
Just Kenya and Adrienne sitting down for a candid conversation about:
* how we met
* our entrepreneurial journeys
* the messy realities of building a business
* why collaboration matters more than competition
* and why showing up authentically online can change everything
You’ll hear stories about:
• starting businesses before we felt ready• learning to show up on camera• navigating failure and pivots• building confidence as entrepreneurs• and why community is essential for growth
It’s not a perfectly scripted episode.
It’s a real conversation.
And that’s exactly what Capture & Connect is about.
What’s Coming Next
This podcast is just the beginning.
In upcoming episodes, we’ll be sitting down with entrepreneurs, creatives, and professionals from across Huntsville and beyond — people who are building brands, launching businesses, and creating impact in their own unique ways.
You’ll hear from:
• small business owners• attorneys and creatives• content creators• community leaders• and entrepreneurs who are redefining success on their own terms
Our goal is simple:
To capture the stories and connect the people building something meaningful.
An Invitation
If you’re an entrepreneur, creative, or dreamer building something of your own, we hope this space feels like home.
Because business can be lonely sometimes.
But it doesn’t have to be.
That’s the heart of Capture & Connect.
Community.Collaboration.And the courage to start before everything is perfect.
So if you haven’t already, listen to the episode and come along for the journey.
We’re just getting started.
—Kenya, Adrienne & April
