Acerca de ChabadLife.TV Street Farbrengen

Farbrengen is Art. Art of the soul. It is a living palette of heart and mind, mixing the modern Chassidic culture and contemporary issues ….which perhaps we rather not talk about. Add honesty and simplicity, and you have a Street Farbrengen.“Our canvas is the Street corner we cherish - common sense, heart, and the spirit of adventure. Its what is ChabadLife.” Co- hosts Reuven Flamer and Zacharia Lipitz talk about what normally lives underground...Gimmel Tammuz.

Street Farbrengen #130: Limits and potential? The modern plight of Idealism

During the 'Three Weeks',  instead of dwelling only on the destruction of the  Beis Hamikdash, the trauma of the destruction of the Temple and a nation's  dispersion ( and consequent persecution) in Chabad we emphasize  influencing the future -  through the study the laws of the future Beis  Hamikdash. But if we're honest, doesn't that sometimes feel... a little naive? The older one is, the easier it is to believe in suffering than in redemption. We may trust disappointment much more than possibility.  We become experts at explaining why things won't change. So what is the Rebbe asking of us? Blind optimism? Religious idealism? Or is he challenging something much deeper—our definition of what is natural? In this week's Street Farbrengen, we explore a surprising question: Is Geulah -  the dream... or is it ..... natural?

Street Farbrengen Episode # 129: The Golden Medina Tefillin Toss

A familiar saying:  The Jews came to America and while crossing the Atlantic they threw their tefillin overboard. The tragedy, we tell ourselves, belongs to the  generation of the past. But what if it doesn't? What if the Golden Medina, the Country paved with gold won in a much deeper way? Drawing on the Rebbe's Ata Tetzaveh maamar, the discussion explores : The greenhorns  of Europe had external enemies.  Ours are internal.  Comfort, distraction, self-absorption, and spiritual complacency. From  trauma culture to Moshiach living , from emotional reactivity to authentic inner identity, join the  challenging discussion on Mesirus Nefesh, trauma, identity, redemption, and why the most dangerous exile may be the one that feels like America is different .

Street Farbrengen Episode 128 - When Understanding Becomes a Hiding Place

Gimmel Tammuz. I've been at many farbrengens. Formed many explanations. Heard lots of words.  I am feeling there is nothing left to say. I feel frozen. Maybe it's time to stop explaining. I've spent  years trying to understand, define, and articulate what Gimmel Tammuz means, that I've sidestepped what it actually means to me. The  explanations have become a hiding place. Reuven opens up about a letter from the Rebbe that struck him deeply: emunah (faith) is not meant to remain an idea. It is meant to permeate life itself. What begins to emerge is the need to explain as  a way of avoiding what I actually feel.. A conversation about Gimmel Tammuz, emunah, hiskashrus, individuality, doubt, commitment, and the uneasy possibility that sometimes the words that bring us closer can also keep us at a safe distance.

Street Farbrengen Episode 127 - Detached from Ourselves

Yud-Beis Tammuz and Gimmel Tammuz raise a deeper question whether we experience them as history, or as something that is happening now? Our conversation moves from the meaning of a yahrzeit and Yoseir M'Bechayohu—more influential than ever—to why so many people feel disconnected from their own lives. Why do we admire ideals yet assume they are not for us? Why do we read about growth, challenge, and spiritual transformation as ideas rather than realities? Along the way, we explore why challenges of the heart and soul may be the very lifeblood of finding yourself , the difference between emotions and thought, speech, and action, and ratzon (will) as the power that directs life. Can a person truly be the governor of his life even when uninvited emotions remain unchanged? What does it mean to prepare for Gimmel Tammuz? Join us for a conversation about goals, personal responsibility, self-mastery, and the difference between learning ideas and living them.

Street Farbrengen Episode 126 - Bitachon Is Not a Win Button

When does faith mean pushing forward—and when does it mean letting go? In this week’s Street Farbrengen, we wrestle with a simple question: when a business deal is struggling, at what point does bitachon mean persevering, and at what point does it mean moving on? The conversation uncovers a deeper issue: perhaps we misunderstand what bitachon is in the first place. Is it confidence that things will work out exactly as we want? Or is it something else entirely? Drawing on Chassidus, business experience, miracle stories, Shabbos observance, and the debates that followed Gimmel Tammuz, we explore the difference between faith and wishful thinking, lamaila min haseichel - above intellect -  common sense, miracles and nature, and what it means to be guided without becoming desperate. We conclude: Bitachon is not certainty about an outcome as it is the calm confidence of being guided. A raw conversation about faith, uncertainty, decision-making, self-knowledge, and the challenge of trusting G-d without abandoning reality.
