DLAS Season 3 Episode 5: Father's Guild Dad Pat Barber's No Yelling Challenge

Send us a text [https://www.buzzsprout.com/twilio/text_messages/2009868/open_sms] In this episode of Dad Like a Seahorse, I talk to homeschooling Dad of four sons, Patrick Barber. Patrick asked his kids what they would most like to change about him and all of them told him they would like him to stop yelling.  Listen to this rich conversation about how his family's life changed when he only uses yelling as one of the tools in his toolbox, and what he does instead.  https://www.instagram.com/thefathersguild/ Elisabeth Harrod, B. DLAS Season 3 Episode 3: PART 2 of My Amazing Conversation with Alex Trippier: The Power of Packing

Send us a text [https://www.buzzsprout.com/twilio/text_messages/2009868/open_sms] In this first-ever Part 2, I continue my conversation with Dad of three kids, Alex Trippier. Alex explains his 'evolution' as a dad learning how to pack for family trips, which involved his wife, Eloise, learning how to step back and letting Alex make mistakes.  "You can't live in shame and change at the same time."  Challenging for Mums to step back and to no longer be in charge.    The 'instinct' is for the Mum to "own the problems," when it's really both parents' job to teach kids how to be responsible for their own lives.  Why do Mums think it's their job to be responsible for the family?  Dads have to choose to take on fatherhood. To choose to be cracked open by our children.              Elisabeth Harrod, B. A. DLAS Season 3 Episode 3: My Amazing Conversation with Alex Trippier about dynamics of Mums and Dads and letting Dads Step up and Fail and Get Better

Send us a text [https://www.buzzsprout.com/twilio/text_messages/2009868/open_sms] I know I'm not supposed to have favorites, but... because Alex Trippier was so invested in his conversation and because he's an amazing dad, this is a conversation you want to listen to again and again. Really. So many gems. I turned this conversation into two episodes it's that rich. Alex lives in London with his wife and three children. He is showing up. Listen up, folks. This is a wise and important conversation.  Elisabeth Harrod, B. A.
