Along with his television experience he has also played in a variety of films, including Crossroads, Fire with Fire, Timestalkers, Spaceballs, Death Wish 4: The Crackdown, Pulse, Bird, Roots: The Gift, Eve of Destruction, Dead Silence, Night Eyes II, Mr. Saturday Night, Star Trek: Generations, Dead Connection, East of Hope Street. During his comprehensive acting career he appeared in numerous theatrical productions including "Romeo & Juliet", "Barrabas", "Dream Girls", "As You Like It", "Twelfth Night", and "Cave Dwellers.”  When not acting, Russ finds time for music and film producing. In all he has been nominated 20 times for an Emmy Award, with 17 nods for a Primetime Emmy and three for a Daytime award. As well as being one of the most outstanding and most respected actors of his generation, equally adept at comedy as he is at drama, Asner also made a name for himself as a trade unionist and a political activist. He served two terms as president of the Screen Actors Guild.
