From Bars To Bucks
Spring turkey season is coming fast, and this year I’m doing something a little different — I’m sharing my 2026 turkey hunting plan before the season even starts. I was lucky enough to draw an opening week permit, but there’s a twist… I live in Delaware and the area I’ll be hunting in New Jersey is mostly public land with very limited scouting opportunities. So this episode is all about how I’m trying to figure it out as a turkey hunting “noob.” We’ll talk about: • Hunting flat woods and swamp edges • Finding birds with very limited preseason scouting • Field edges vs interior timber setups • Whether decoys make sense in the woods • What I’ve been learning from other hunters and videos This isn’t a “do this and you’ll kill a turkey” episode. It’s more of a real look at how I’m trying to learn and build a game plan heading into the season. If you’ve ever gone into a season with more questions than answers, this one’s for you. And if you’re a seasoned turkey hunter… feel free to jump into the comments and help a turkey noob out. Welcome to From Bars to Bucks — where hunting, fishing, and the outdoors are a big part of staying sane in a crazy world.
